Review summary

We had a blast at our temporary home away from home. There was never a dull moment, and the service was superb! Can’t wait for the next trip!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
The embarkation process took a lot longer than I expected, but it was still pretty organized. Also, the parking deck the cruise line suggested only accepted cash, which was not listed on the website. Several people had to get out and go to the ATM which made the process take much longer.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only ate in the main dining rooms and buffet, except for the Velvet Dinner & Show. All of the food was pretty good, but several dishes in the dining rooms and buffet were not served as hot as they should have been.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The Breakaway has a very nice fitness center, which we used a couple times. The pool was a bit small for the number of passengers, but the area was nice. My only complaint about the pool area is that the smoker's lounge was not well-enclosed. If you're sitting anywhere near it or on the deck above it, the smoke will get to you. It was horrible for me because of my asthma. The same goes for the casino. Although they advertise that the smoker's area is away from the main hallway, you can definitely smell it when walking through the casino. I didn't try any of the slides or anything, but all the kids looked like they were having a blast.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There was enough diversity in entertainment for everyone to find something they liked.

Children's Programs

I didn't have any children on board.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff were very pleasant, attentive, and ready to assist with a smile.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very well-maintained. Unfortunately, a lot of the passengers took advantage of the situation and left a lot of trash lying around. However, the staff was constantly going around cleaning up behind them, so it never stayed dirty for long.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was nice. It could've been larger, but I what I was getting myself into when I ordered an inside cabin. Everything was clean and well-maintained. During the trip the keycard lock for our door fell off, but our cabin steward put in an emergency service call and stayed nearby until it was fixed to ensure our belongings were secure.

Ship tip

Book everything in advance (dining, excursions, etc.) before they sell out. Also, as soon as you get on the ship, visit one of the touch screens to reserve show tickets, since you cannot reserve them in advance.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
I didn't do an excursion because I've been there several times before.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Ocho Rios was nice. We did the Ocho Rios Highlights excursion and got to see some of the city and visit Konoko Falls Park and the Almond Tree Restaurant.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the crystal clear water on the 7-Mile Beach excursion. We also brought home some pineapple rum and banana rum that we sampled at the Tortuga Rum Factory.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
We took a glass-bottom boat excursion in Honduras, and it was amazing seeing local sea life and coral reefs up close.

Harvest Caye, Belize

5 out of 5
We enjoyed Harvest Caye. We did a short excursion on the Black Swan electric boat, then hung out at the beach. I wish we had gone to the mainland so see more of the actual city.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We didn't get to explore much of Cozumel, but our Mexican Cuisine & Cooking Class excursion was amazing. The open bar was a big hit.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We chose to self disembark, which was a tedious process with large suitcases, but we managed. Next time I'll let the staff do it.
