Review summary

We had a wonderful cruise on the Breakaway. I was nervous about the ship since there were so many negative reviews. We experienced the opposite. The staff were all so friendly and always said Hi with a smile. They work hard but still seemed eager to please and were happy. The food was very good and came out hot and quickly. We never had a long wait for food or drinks. Our the steward Renaldo was great and a pleasure to meet. The concierge Martina was energetic and always willing to assist you. I think this was the best Haven experience we have had with NCL. The only complaint, as others always say, the casino is terrible with all the smoke. NCL really needs to separate the areas on the older ships like they have with the Joy, Bliss and Encore. It's such a terrible design.

Embarkation

We booked a Haven room and with this comes priority boarding. We know the drill and always stay in the Haven. The terminal employees screwed up and the boarding process was a mess. They started letting others board and then stopped when they realized we Haven guests hadn't gone. It was very confusing once we got on the ship because the ship staff didn't know what was happening. Thankfully this was the only issue

The food and service were wonderful. We enjoyed every meal and had no issues with the service. We dined at both specialty and complimentary restaurants.

O'Sheehan's Neighborhood Bar and Grille

Pleasantly surprised that we really enjoyed this place. Never really ate here on other cruises. The food was good and the staff were friendly and helpful.

La Cucina

This was a great meal. We were so happy since we had a horrible experience at La Cucina on the Getaway. The food was fast, hot and tasted great. The service was excellent.

Teppanyaki

Our favorite place on NCL. Excellent food and "show". You get so much food! I knocked a star because this particular restaurant was hot and smoky as if the ventilation wasn't working properly.

Taste Restaurant

We normally don't do the MDR places but we decided to on this cruise. We were greeted and seated very quickly. The staff were professional and friendly. The food came out quickly and was very good. It was a nice dining experience.

One of our favorite places on NCL. Attentive staff and a wonderful menu. Ask for the fried calamari!

We loved Burn the Floor and saw it twice. The dancers and singers were great. Six was very good, some performers better than others and it showed. Velvet was so so, not our type of entertainment. I don't think it was worth paying for. The dinner was steak and shrimp but with french fries. It seemed odd. Out of all this was the worst dining experience.

Spiegel Tent

Saw Velvet here. Probably the worst experience of the cruise. The show and performers were not very good. The dinner part had a sub-par meal and slow service. The Cirque shows on the other ships were so much better. Definitely not something worth paying for.

Very clean but can feel crowded especially waiting for elevators. Casino VERY smokey and horrible smelling. Needs better ventilation or enclosed smoking areas

Cabin / Stateroom

Haven Suite 16110. Great location to the Haven courtyard and restaurant / lounge. We did hear some noise from the sundeck above. I think when the crew was cleaning.

Ship tip

Book reservations early for shows and dining. If you have issues online call in and ask for help. Don't wait till you board.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Went to Puerto Seco Beach and rented a cabana on Discovery Bay. It was a lovely place with wonderful staff. The beach was gorgeous and the grounds well taken care of. Highly recommended when in Jamaica

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

Rented a new villa at Silver Cove. Was the BEST! Had the perfect day. So quiet and private. The area is stunning and a must to see. The private buffet was very good and the staff treated us so well.

Cozumel, Mexico

Did the speedboat tour. Took a long time to leave the pier and get in the taxi. Then we had to sit and watch a safety seminar / video. It was fun but probably wouldn't do again as a lot of time was wasted.

You can never take the reviews you see here 100% serious some people are very picky you must do your homework and research on the ship that you were choosing and also the ports of call don’t sweat the small stuff while on vacation cruising is still very good value for your money keep on cruising I love to cruise
