Review summary

The Breakaway is a good ship. The staff is good. The time of year is possibly problematic.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
The ship had run in to bad weather before docking and was delayed. We were about five hours behind as a result.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
All restaurants were satisfactory and some were very good. Cagney's Steakhouse was one of our favorites as well as La Cucina. For a non speciality restaurant The Manhattan Room was very good. It offers live entertainment on certain nights, be sure to get a reservation for those nights.

Onboard Activities

The

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The live entertainment in the main show room was usually first rate. Obviously this depends on what you enjoy watching.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
We did not use.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The wait staff in the Haven Restaurant were great. The are the best. Our room steward was nice but not as attentive to detail as we have experienced in the past. Our butler was helpful. The concierge staff especially David was what you would want in the Haven.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The elevators are often crowed and slow. This is true on any ship at times but especially difficult when your room is on the sixteenth floor. This is inconvenient but not a major flaw. The ship was always clean and easy to maneuver in.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We enjoyed a two bedroom suite in the Haven. The balcony is a bit small but adequate. If you can stay in the Haven it is worth it.

Ship tip

O'Sheeahns Pub is great for snacks or smaller meals. The Escape Room adventure was just okay. It was fun but I think they could have put more thought in to it.

Ports of call

New York, New York

5 out of 5
We did excursions on our own. The self guide tour of Grand Central Terminal was educational and entertaining. We saw " Come from Away", A good broadway play. I highly recommend it.The Escape Room NYC was great fun.

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
We have been there before but this time we were there for only a couple of hours. This was because of the delay upon departure.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

3 out of 5
A nice place. The Haven area was not kept exclusively for the Haven guests. Disappointing.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

4 out of 5
We did the River Tubing Excursion. Easy to navigate and we had to guides. TAKE MOSQUITO REPELLANT.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
No excursion. A good place for lunch and to walk around.

Harvest Caye, Belize

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

3 out of 5
We did get off the ship to go to the shopping that is only open to the cruise passengers. It is nice but small.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
This is one of our favorites. The have moved the Margaritaville. But there are a number of good dinning options. This is a good port for shopping.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
This was the first time we walked off with our luggage. It work well but getting a taxi in 29 degree weather was challenging.
