was too many drunks on this ship, I have been on this ship before and liked it, this time not so much. The smoking in the center of the ship (casino area)was sickening. My granddaughter was attacked by a child in kids camp and scratched across her neck and chest for no reason. I had drinks spilled all over me on two occasions from sloppy drunks walking around aimlessly.Spent a lot of time in my cabin which was peaceful .Simply put this ship is way too crowded!

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
main dining rooms took forever to get food served and was often lukewarm, Cagneys was excellent service , OSheehans crowded but never waited too long for table (burgers are the best I have ever eaten) La Cucina was adequate nothing special service was very good though. Garden Cafe had some really good food at times but passengers are rude, crash, some vulgar to staff. Trying to find a table is an adventure.
O'Sheehan's Neighborhood Bar and Grille
4 out of 5
excellent burgers and service not great as they were always crowded and the wait was long for the food . Getting refills on drinks was difficult at best due to overworked staff
Onboard Activities

Breakaway Casino
4 out of 5
liked the casino although non smoking section is full of smoke went home with a nice sore throat from being in there. We would have spent more time in there but the smoking and rowdy drunks got the better of us. I had a drunk fall on me and bruise my hand with a beer bottle, also spilling his beer on my shoes, and on another occasion a drunk banged into me by the roulette wheel spilling and entire drink on my sweater. Other then those few things I like the casino hust hate the smoke..yuck!!

Children's Programs

club was nice my granddaughter loved it except when she was attacked by a 6 yr old who scratched up her neck chest and shoulder. Could n't do much about it as the child was much younger than my granddaughter who was 9. I was amazed at how many parents drop off their kids while holding drinks in their hands,,,
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
our steward was pleasant and accommodating enough , just the cleaning at embarkation was not what it used to be. I cleaned my entire room over with clorox wipes to remove hands prints . Soap dispensers weren't filled up until we asked , and had to constantly ask for toilet paper. The guy vacuumed and all but I have been on other ships where the cabins were always immaculate. It looked like blood on one wall in our cabin, and the duvet on my granddaughters bed smelled pretty badly. I don't expect the ritz but I do expect clean.
Ship Quality

ship is big ,,too big ,, and garbage pails that were on other ships near elevators are non-existent on the Breakaway . You have to carry the crack its and bingos card to your room to rid yourself of debris or in public bathroom trash bins. Elevators constantly covered in finger prints yuck(most times sticky ones) tables in garden cafe were often sticky, people are generally pigs and really don't care about clkeanliness(I personally would never leave a mess for others and would not refill juice or water bottle s without using a cup to do so to prevent cross contamination.) I witnessed people putting food back in cafe,Yuck!! To look at the ship it is beautiful ,,it is simply a matter of too many people and the ones in the cheaper cabins get the same amenities as the people that pay the higher price for their suites and balcony rooms.Sometimes class does go along with the cabin sticker price, I fear. Any way the service on the ship from staff was ok (most really didn't give a damn, but were I feel pleasant enough) service is lacking from the past cruises for sure..what a shame.I was just on this ship in jan/feb for 14 days and even since then things have declined in way of service. I have been on this ship 3 times and this was the worst . My entire family went home with stomach issues and horrible colds.

great huge balcony size of cabin was perfect
Ship tip
bring fold down boxes from dollar store for your clothes,You know to put socks undies and tee shirts in . They are perfect for the shelves in closets since there are no drawers . They kept the closets neat and clothes together
went to ron jons to shop and take photos with the surfing santa and surf co to watch the shark feeding , then to historic cocoa village. They stopped the excursion bus to this village . We were told it was destroyed by hurricane but really wasn't. It is a very nice place t shop and very picturesque.
we were evacuated due to rough seas and supposed eels invasion. we had just gotten seated on the beach when told to evacuate. They also stopped the tram ride to the lagoon so walking there was quite a chore. Also a lot of ship employees aren't aware there is a lagoon on the island lol.
we go to Blue Lagoon island every time we come to Nassau . The kids love this excursion beautiful day at the beach , and get to see the dolphins entertain
I feel drinks should be limited, and I am sorry some of you didn't like my review,,As I said before AI was on the Breakaway previously due to itinerary being what I needed, The ship was much cleaner and service much better,. It was a longer cruise than this one. I had a drunk drop a beer bottle on my hand which left a very nice size bruise on my hand that is just starting to fade , and another spill a drink all over my expensive sweater. It ticked me off because I was sitting at a slot when one occurred and standing still when another one happened. I witnessed a large group of the same people from the 4th floor cabins cursing the staff out as well as other passengers,,,we happened upon them going into their cabin when we were exiting the ship so we knew where they were staying hence the comment about classless people in cheaper cabins..I spent over 5 grand on this cruise with my kids and grandkids and it was not a very great experience for all for different reasons . Sorry if some of you disagree. The smoke smellis horrible and something should be done about this , and I played bingo and twice there was no garbage brown bags to throw away debris and I was told to bring it back to my cabin , now that I have explained myself and reasons for comments goodnight all !
Your comments on the Casino are dead on. I have never been on a cruise with so much smoking allowed on the ship. Our clothes reeked and the smell permeated other floors as well. Even the "Waterfront" was unenjoyable. Great if you're a smoker but crap for us who are not.
- You have been on the Breakaway before and liked it yet you complained about it being too big multiple times.... I'm confused
- there's a major difference in passenger demographics on a 7 day to a 14 day...... and no where near as many kids on a 14. 95% of your complaints have to do with your fellow passengers and not necessarily NCL
- and I disagree the cabin dictates "class".... I have witnessed passengers from Haven and DOS / OS be some of the rudest entitled people on the ship and those from inside staterooms being humble, compassionate and polite...... pretty shallow of you to think class is relative to what people pay for things
I am recently off of the Escape and I think NCL screwed up big time offering an unlimited beverage package. The key word being unlimited. Very sloppy drunks on this trip as well. No one should ever be served 15+ drinks. I'm no party pooper but they need to revamp this option
If you didn't care for the buffet why didn't you dine in Taste,Savor or Manhattan room? Or even O'Sheenans? No idea why you are saying the tables were sticky in the buffet, they are always picking up dishes and wiping the tables down. When you go during the busy time there obviously will be crowds and what you say is lack of seating. Yes, some people are rude and don't care about others, but to say that those who are in the as you put it cheaper cabins aren't worthy of the same amenities as those paying for suites and higher priced cabins is entirely RUDE! Maybe you need to cruise on a smaller over priced ship where you get waited on hand and foot! And as for going home with stomach issues and colds, that's the reason they have washing stations and sani gel around the ship. We have been on BA six times, pay for a balcony every time and have never had any issues. You have to realize there are over 4000 passengers and there are always going to be some problem. But I think you are a bit over the edge with your comments. They are always cleaning and maybe if parents had some control over their kids there wouldn't be fingerprints all over things. In other words, lighten up and enjoy your cruise. If you are they worried about cleanliness, maybe try staying at a resort and not cruising!
You are right about blaming NCL it could be any cruise line.phaedrunsnyc I love bingo and the last Bingo they had I would say 100 or more people were playing. They should have more bingo’s on one card. That I will not play again.
