Review summary

Confusing but ok I guess. It was diffently a learning experience. It was a learning experience for sure. I'm glad my husband, daughter, son in law and reo grandchildren got this opportunity. I hope when I can take my nect cruise, it will be more enjoyable.

Embarkation

A little confusing. Was my first one. Be nice if we knew what deck and side to be on when leaving New York, do we could see the Statue of Liberty.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
All dining was good. I would like to see hard rolls, whole wheat bagels, and a mix of sub sandwiches. Plus a place to get a cup of tea to go about the ship. I wasn't expecting all dining area to have the same menus! I was told on deck 6 , this was available. But I never found it.😔

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Hot tub, Burn the floor, Rock of Ages, Splash Academy Show. Spiegel Tent for the mystery show and the circus show. Truly enjoyed Rock Of Ages. Disappointed in the Show for Splash Academy. Had great seats to see my granddaughter, and was made to move. Got way up in the back and couldn't get good pictures. You have to many activities going on in the Theater and seating selection is not the greatest. You had a game before and after this show. So people came early to claim their seats.

Entertainment

Never was certain when or where to go. The papers we get the night before, do not explain much.

Children's Programs

My granddaughter had alot of fun. My grandson (age 4) went only once and would not go back. He cried!!!!

Service and Staff

Outstanding room steward Gregio!!!! Hope I travel again and have him.👍👍👍

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Yes. Disappointed on how people can be such slobs. To lazy to carry their glasses ...ect to a proper place.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Very clean. The only discomfort I had was the hard bed.

Ship tip

Don't open your balcony door and your cabin door. Its a very big wind tunnel!!!!! I had to chase things down the hall!!!!!

Ports of call

New York, New York

3 out of 5
It was ok. Not to clear on where to get the sheet to fill out for health....ect. When we were in the long lines, saw people with these forms already. Couldn't figure out where to get one till the end. Then to have a pen to fill out the form. All tjis could be explained better.

Port Canaveral, Florida

Confusing till you find a peson to tell you which bus you are to go on. The excursion to Cocoa Beach was great. Very knowledgeable guide. Loved the ride. Guide even had port a potty on this vessel. Plus gave everyone FREE soda or water.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

Tenders got called back before I had a chance to get off.

Nassau, Bahamas

The guide was very knowledgeable and loved the beach! Disappointed not more shade by the beach. I'm not one yo lay in the sun!!!!! Just wished I had more time to explore the island. By the time I went to the beach and found some place to drag lounges in a very small shady place, then eat, and got to have a picture with a dolphin. I had to rush to get my things and get back on the boat to go to the ship.

Disembarkation

Was rushed out to the pier to wait for our taxi. Thank goodness the one security guard let me go to the bathroom, after passing my luggage to my husband. My poor daughter and granddaughter also had to visit the restroom. We were lucky that my grandson made the 2.5 hour ride home without having to stop and go. He only has ONE kidney and it is important that he drinks plenty!!!! Not happy at all how we were rushed out to the street.

A first cruise is always a bewilderment - you just don't know the ropes. There is a learning curve to cruising. After your third cruise you begin to fell like an expert. I hope that you enjoy your next cruise even more.

Welcome to cruising. Most cruise lines give you the bums rush the final day as they have to clean the ship and cabins before the next guest get on. Turnaround day is the most hectic and busy for all the crew. As far as food goes IMHO to get good food on NCL you have to go to the premium extra cost dining venues. The Steak house and French restaurant and Sushi are very good. One NCL ship I was on did a sea day special Indian lunch for $10.00 that was very good. The Forum section of this site has a lot of good information to learn about cruising. If you have a question you can ask and a bunch of us are happy to answer. Some of our members have been on over 30 or 50 cruises so good chance one of us has been there and done that,

The Bahamas is not the best experience for many experienced cruisers.

As far as NCL pricing, well, all the lines are raising their prices as all those extra water slides, dining venues, cruise experiences , etc are added.   Just because you choose to not eat in a ships’ steakhouse, doesn’t mean you;re not paying for it.   People demanded a better vacation experience, and they (we ) are getting it. But at a premium.

If this is your first cruise don't let it put you off. We were on the same cruise (our 4th on NCL) and this was by far our worst experience. I would compare it more to a Carnival cruise. Having said that, I have also noticed That NCL have increased their prices quite a bit as well. These increases do not reflect a better onboard experience. Maybe try another cruise line next time(we are) . It seem NCL is pricing like Celebrity or Royal Caribbean but with a Walmart experience.
