Review summary

They should really limit the amount of people on the boat, instead of cramming everyone together. This would allow you to get a drink and the bar, have dinner without wait for an hour and be able to get hot food.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
arrived at the ship. Boarded with no issues

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Ship staff could not handle the over booked crowd on the ship. No place to sit, could not get a drink, dinner took several hours and was always cold.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
too crowded was not able to sit by pool or even get a seat at a bar.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
was not able to see any shows too crowded

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
looked nice but could not handle the crowd

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
there was no service.. to hard to find someone

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
the boat was just too crowded I would recommend never traveling when school is out.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
my power went out several times, it was always a struggle to get them to lower the bunk beds at bed time

Ship tip

The boat was very new, I am sure you can have a great time on it. I know dozens of people who love the ship and go every year.. But do not travel when school is out or if they are fully booked, there is not enough room on the ship and you will have a terrible time

Ports of call

New York, New York

3 out of 5

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

1 out of 5
terrible, you had to wait for everything, if you are not lucky enough to get to the island early and secure a chair by the main beach good luck, every other entry point on to the beach is covered with rocks making it very difficult to go into the water.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
great time stayed at breezes for the day.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
no problem getting of the boat vey quick if you carry your luggage

We never make reservations and the most we have waited might be 15 mins. Never have to wait for drinks. When you take your card out next to door that powers the lights you will shut everything off. The ship holds at least 4000 passengers, so yes there will be lines. But you are on vacation not like you have anywhere to be. And i have no clue where you were eating but food has always been fine and no long waits. Several hours? I think not. And its a SHIP not a boat. Yet you didnt complain about boarding and debarkation which is usually what most people complain about. Stay home next time.

Going on the breakaway for tge 3rd time in march. If you do a little pre planning for dinner reservations you will not encounter this issue. We have never had an issue with any off the staff. Always been excelent. Just gotta relax your on vacation.

- Yikes..... during your booking, you didn't notice that the Breakaway is an intimate ship with 5,600 passenger & crew?? of course there would be crowds..... - not sure if you went to the bars that were staffed because I never had a problem getting a drink (yes, busy but so aren't land bars during peak times and OPEN bar.... heck, go to a wedding reception with open bar and you want a line)..... - the power went out in your room because the stewards are directed to turn power off to consume energy, be more green and as a safety thing because people charging with surge protectors (actually tells you this on the front page of your Daily every day) - it's highly recommended to make dinner reservations at any restaurant where you may encounter 4,000 other guests who may want to eat at the same time - agree with the shows though.... they should have more throughout the week because the theater can't accommodate the crowds - pool crowd issues are common on all ships (the H2O area is nice though, not bad if you get there early) - megaships seem to be outside your comfort zone (mine too) so don't give up.... try a smaller ship like the Dawn or Gem

Maybe next time you should book a Haven suite and you wont have to put up with the crowds!
