Review summary

Horrible room location and Food ! When booking through WorldWide Travel (BJ'S) they never stated the room had a blocked room and was in front of a designated smoking area !!! What's the sense of paying al the extra $$ for a balcony when you couldn't even use it, because if you did you where constantly sitting in a wave of smoke. Also, there are some floating devices / Bumpers that are stored right in front of your room, so you couldn't sit in the chairs and see the water, total waste of the money.

Ship tip

Don't sail Norwegian. I've been on this boat twice, and booked the second last minute, as vacation plans change and this itinerary fit our dates. Complete false advertising, as they still show the Nickelodeon rights, so the splash area isn't Spongebob, and there are NO TV CHANNELS to watch.

8764. I mentioned it above @Barbi0502 Pilotvova, I booked 10 days before the sail date, as mentioned in the original post. When I booked, I had the option to go higher up for cheaper, but choose not to because I feel, the higher up - the more motion. I always have booked Mid-Ship and mid level on the boat. When booking, there was still plenty of room available, and made this choose as it is a preferred location of mine, but wouldn't have if I would have know about the smoking and the obstruction of the view.

It would be helpful to know what your cabin number was or at least the deck number and/or general location.

CCBunny, how long ago from the sailing date did you book the cruise? Anything below the deck 11 considered as a step down in any category. Did the travel agent discussed the location on the ship with you? As for a non smoker myself I would to make sure I do my homework regarding the location of the stateroom, but people do smoke on their balconies and places they ar not suppose to. The only area w have no control is the casino, like it or not its always a designated smoke area. Its sadly that you are venting right now about unpleasant things. But its OK. Lets hope you will remember better times about the cruise soon. As far as Nickelodeon, we were on Escape last year and there was no SpongeBob already. Plus per contract NCL can change , cancel or replace any event at anytime. It is sure disappointing but there are plenty more things to do on the ship. Thank you for your honest review. Happy cruising next time on NCL.

The room 8764 is not listed as an obstructive view, I can show the bill if needed. As for the balcony, the pictures shown are of us Standing up and looking out, you could not sit in the chairs and see the water, you needed to be standing or looking to side, which is not my idea of a balcony view. As for the smoking, it should be listed, noted or made aware that you are directly in front of a smoking area, there are cruisers with small children who wish for them not to be subjected to 2nd hand smoke and people do have allergies. I paid more for a mid ship balcony, and could've went higher up for less not being mid ship and would've if I known this. As for the Aqua park, as noted in the pic I posted from NCL website, you clearly see Spongebob Characters, which allowed me to believe they were still there, prompting me to tell my 5 year old, who later was disappointed. We have no loyalty to any specific cruise line, as we have sailed 4 different ones, and we just want the best for what we pay, and to say this cruise was worth 7K for a family of 4 would be a lie. Again, this is my review, on our experience, but for the best bang for our buck - We will not be going back.

Norwegian Does Not still advertise that they have the rights to Nickelodeon!! There is a reason why they have taken out all of the Spongebob characters out of the kids splash area!! Its a fact that smoke smell is going to spread however there is only certain smoking areas onboard the ship where passengers can smoke so they were just following the policies. Its better for them to smoke outside on the decks than smoke everyone out smoking in the interior!

There really are no obstructed views. Just because you look down and see the deck below doesn't mean that it's obstructed. As stated before, do your research, look at deck plans and book directly with the cruise line instead of using a third party. All balconies will have a view of the water if you just look out!

What was your room number?

breakaway11    7 years ago

sounds like you book a guarantee balcony it says it has obstructed views its not the ships fault its the agent you went through this is the reason these are cheaper.

So sorry to read you were disappointed on the view of your room but for your next cruise make sure u do your research You can download the deck plan so when ur booking your room you can see what's above u & below u so this doesn't happen again That's what I do I won't book a cabin if I have clubs above me or below me

those are not bumpers but life rafts. and that is not considered a blocked view. you can still see the water.
