Review summary

The Breakaway was very nice.  Food was good and employees very helpful and friendly.  The only bad point was our cabin.  We could not regulate the temperature in the cabin so was very hot for us.  We reported it 3 times but got no answers the entire trip.  We were in a balcony mini suite so at least we could open our door at night.  The hallway outside our cabin was cool.  I even took to sleeping on the balcony a few nights to get respite from the heat.

Ship tip

Moderno has a nice breakfast buffet. It is smaller but you don't have a problem finding a seat.

If I remember correctly we had temp issues in our suite also. The issue is the slider door. You can't just leave it open. It changes the humidity or something. Go out on deck, close the door. Come in close the door. But I think leaving it open shuts down the a/c so they're not cooling the air over the ocean.

wtf: you are probably correct that the key card thing doesn't directly impact the AC. My little brain wants the room to think someone is present so it doesn't shut AC off. ☺

I thought the key card in the slot was for electrical power in the cabin. That being lights and TV. The frig stays on regardless. A/C always stayed on for me, just keep the slider closed and latched/locked. I left the slider closed but not latched/locked and returned to a toasty cabin.

Dees30: some tips concerning room /power - bring an expired hotel room key, expired gift card, or similar to place in slot (next to door) to keep AC / power going to room - leave balcony door closed as this will shut off ac / heat (has sensor) - ask room steward to explain thermostat controls - if system is not working, immediately contact Guest Services and if still not working then contact HD....

weglinger: that stupid card thing is the root cause of a lot of issues!!

when I was on the Escape I had problem with thermostat, I was pushing rapid cool which turn off after running a certain time limit. When I set the temperature down in the range I wanted. Also I'm assuming you left your card in the switch or it turn off I believe.

I had the same problem on my last cruise with carnival. the room would not cool down to our comfort level. my husband is asthmatic so it was very uncomfortable for him.

ouch..... who did you report it to? This for the "entire trip" I would've been sitting at guest services waiting for the Hotel Director....
