Review summary

The cruise looks amazing and has many attractions and activities to do. However, when I'm on vacation, I like to relax and catch up on sleep. We couldn't sleep the entire week due to the dip in the mattresses! We kept sinking in the mattresses and asked to have them flipped over...this didn't help.

The tenders to the private island took more than an hour to get on then another 20-30min to leave the ship! When we got there, the lines to get food were long and we couldn't get any food. While traveling with a toddler this to me is unacceptable. There were no beach chairs to sit on so we sat on the sand for a a while but decided to go back to the ship to eat and feed toddler.

Ship was always clean and the food was great!!! The balcony room was amazing. I tried to have a good time and make the most out of my vacation but I had no sleep so this didn't help at all. Will not be cruising for a long time or maybe not at all.

Ship tip

The Manhattan dining room has the fastest service and staff very friendly. If you have special dietary needs, communicate this with manager and they will prepare your food ahead of time. This must be done at least 24 hours in advance.

I agree I wouldn't recommend booking a cruise ship such as the Breakaway to catch up on sleep especially with a toddler. This is a mega ship which is filled with all the bells and whistles to keep everyone entertained. I would suggest for a cruise where u wanna relax and rest to choose a much smaller vessel with more simple attractions without the water slides, zip line, rope course, bowling alley etc. look for a ship with captivity of no more than 2400 guest. If you stay with Norwegian that would be their jewel class ships so check out the Gem or Pearl or any of the jewel class vessels. As for tender wait that is common due to a lot of people trying to get off around the same time. As for dip in mattress that should have been fixed. Overall most of your concerns could have been fixed so I hope that does not discourage you from cruising again. It is a amazing experience if planned well.

Can't understand anyone booking a cruise like this to catch up on sleep!

You do realize that the bed is 2 twins pushed together? That could have been why you felt a dip. Tendering will always take awhile due to the weather, amount of people getting on and the ride over. Best to get there early if you want a chair.

I would have asked the front desk to send up a new mattress. They do have them.. Sorry your vaca was ruined, that really sucks since you pay so much to enjoy yourself.
