Review summary
I'm very happy I paid for the UBP to allow me to drink all day long, pretty much every day of the trip. Compared to other cruise lines I have sailed on (Royal Caribbean, Carnival) Norwegian did not offer much of anything. That is, anything complimentary. The comedy club was one of the few free things to do, and every single night was booked immediately. We paid $20/person plus 18% gratuity for their "ice bar" that was more of a meat locker. Very small space with two 'complementary drinks' that I left behind because they were outrageously disgusting. Like I said, thank God for the beverage package or I wouldn't have been even more miserable. I sat at the bar the entire trip.
Food: Also nothing to rave about. You shouldn't expect anything crazy at the Wind Jammer (as we call it from our RC cruising) - however the sit down meals were just about the same every evening. We are used to a much higher standard of cruising and I got sick of the meals very quickly.
