Review summary

My husband and close friends along with and myself traveled on the NCL Breakaway and were very disappointed with this cruise.

One of the reason's we booked this cruise was the adult swimming pool/hot tub and the Casino.  Normally, we can expect that these area's would be off limits to kids, however, we found that the adult swimming pool/hot tub was always filled with kids.  We never took advantage of the adult pool area.

The casino seem to have several kids playing machines.  When I inquired about both the pool and casino, I was informed that the staff did not want to upset the parents of the kids.  Made no sense to me and my husband.

Had several problems with staff not understanding what we wanted or said.  I have to say for the most part, the staff was wonderful (housekeeping) but it was difficult getting service while sitting at the bar.  Seems we were ignored because we were the older crowed.  Was disappointed with the Steak House.  The staff keep spilling things (alcohol, water) and got our order wrong.  I don't think they were happy with us. We were happy with most of the specialty restaurant however I don't think we'll be traveling on the NCL Breakaway out of NYC any time soon.  People were rude getting on the vessel.

Did do the Hawaii cruise and that was wonderful.  i would totally recommend the Hawaii cruise, but forget the NCL NYC cruise to the Bahama's.

We took advantage of a lot of the specialty entertainment. It was worth the cost.

Service and Staff

We loved our housekeeping person. He went out of the way to introduce himself. It was a hit and miss with other services, staff.

Cabin / Stateroom

We really were happy with our cabin. Loved our bathroom and our stateroom staff was wonderful. He made sure to introduce himself and made sure if we needed anything, he was there to assist us.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Tried to have a quite dinner for 2 in Ocean Blue by the window. A rude family of 5 were then seated next to us who were bickering over devices and food with three kids. Mom decides to plop down next to me, turn her back to me and feed her 6 year old. We paid the cover for two, but I surmise they didn't have to because mom didn't eat but stayed on her telephone talking loudly. Mismatch

Try Holland America. I believe their age range is 65 to dead.

Kids in the casino walking through maybe but playing I doubt that.

I was on there 2 weeks ago and had no issues with the food, service, or the kids. I didn't spend a lot of time at the pool, but I did in the casino and I never saw kids in there. We also thought Cagney's food was delicious. My husband had the surf and turf and the steak just melted in your mouth. If you like beats and goat cheese I would highly recommend the beat goat cheese salad for an app.

Haha I am not scared to speak up. Sometimes you have too. We went on a cruise with the dawn and we had the same issue. I would kindly ask the kids to leave. When they didn't I would call one of the workers on the boat. They would then ask the kids to leave. There was a time I did confront the parents and asked if they would kindly ask their children to not go into the adult tubs. Just speak up

We were on at the beginning of the month, we really didn't go to the adult pool so I can't comment except that we told out kids not to and they were always in the main pool area. There was so much to do that they weren't in the pool constantly anyway. As far as the casino, I didn't see any kids at any machines except when we all had to go in there for the drill. Again, we told out children they were not allowed in there too stay out unless they were just walking through. We had a wonderful cruise and would do it again in a heart beat.

I was on a few weeks ago and they said they changed the rules and kids are allowed in adult pool. They still have signs that says no kids also the hot tubs were all kids eating and drinking in them they were dumping soda in it and playing with the cups in the water. The parents were drinking and letting the kids have free rain.I saw a few kids in the casino but they made them leave.I had fun

I was on the ship last November and I didn't see kids in the adult pool. The one time I saw a couple kids going towards it they were told they weren't allowed in there. We didn't go near the casino except to walk through it a couple times to get to the other side. It smelled so much from the cigarette smoke so we learned to avoid going through the casino area.

I agree with you about the pools. I was on this ship two years ago and was not happy about not having a adult area for pool and hot tub. RCL I like better.

I continue to read the issue regarding the pools and casino. I understand maybe the pool being difficult to manage, but the kids for sure should not be in the casino.
