Review summary

Well, the one thing I learned is I will never take a cruise again on Spring Break out of NY. The weather was simply dreadful. We arrived in FL on Tuesday after being at sea for 1 1/2 days only to be forced back onto the ship because of thunderstorms.   Wednesday, we couldn't get off the ship at all in Stirrup Cay being the waters were way to choppy and the tenders couldn't make it to us.  Thursday, Nassau Bahamas was on and off cloudy but it was doable.  Friday was the only HOT day to sit out and enjoy the beautiful deck the Norwegian Breakaway offers.  Then it was off at sea AGAIN.  Loads of entertainment but after day 3 I was simply bored out of my mind. The staff was good once you engaged them in conversation other than that they kept to themselves.  Rooms were very clean and the ship was always being cleaned. I can't remember a time I didn't see someone cleaning something.  The Splash Academy could have been a little more structured age wise.  My 9 year old was stuck with 6 year olds and he hated every minute of the camp. He was just to mature for that group.  Perhaps it should be 6 to 8 yr olds and 9 to 11 and 12 and 13.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Yes with the linens they need to be left on the floor if you are finished with them. They will not always remove them from inside the shower (conservation reasons just like hotels say to leave on the floor n to use more than one day) I love breakaway and hated carnival pride. I would never do carnival again. We enjoy a nice long quiet dinner. We always just enjoy our dinners.

I would never take a cruise during spring break or summer. And Yes fall is a perfect time. I know it is hurricane season. I never had an issue with weather. Call it lucky. It really is a nice time to cruise.

I completely agree with how frustrating it was to deal with kids in adult only areas. If you even went up to deck 16 to get to Spice H20 there was always a huge group outside the arcade hooting and swearing. I also think your service may depend on your room steward. We never had problems with getting clean linen, we just communicated with our steward on day one and left wet stuff in the sink.

See my original comment. I have never had any of the issues on any of my 9 other sailings. From ship layout, to service, to activities, the Breakaway was a huge let down compared to oter ships and experiences.

@jgfmommie1 what more were u hoping for

I have cruised, spring break, and summer, never had a problem. My husband uses the washcloths and we have never had a problem with the shower being cleaned. Was hoping for so much more then we got on this ship, oh well..

I never go during the summer, always in the fall , and in the spring....id rather gouge my own eyes out ! As far as hot tubs, use the adults only aft section..just FYI , if you don't throw dirty washcloths /towels in a pile on the bathroom floor they assume you are willing to use them again..sometimes cruises are hit or miss, you take your chances

I will not go in the Summer or breaks, but thank God I have an option!

I must not have been on the same ship. My Breakaway experience was horrible! The bathrooms were disgusting, the activities were ran half assed, the adult pool and hot tubs were full of kids, the seating around the pool area was terrible, the staff was uninviting, restaurants took forever to get your food, my sofa bed was never put back to a sofa during the day, washcloths never removed from shower, under 18 in adult only areas, the staff knew nothing when asked qustions, the excursions were poorly run, very unorganized, kids club was absolutely horrible, 10th cruise, by far the worst!! The carnival pride was better!! Won't complain about the weather cause that's not ncl's fault, just the luck of the draw. But a total waste of spring break, would have had a better time staying home!

I can't imagine being bored on this ship. There is so much to do that I didn't have time to do it all.

Was their anything specific to the Breakaway that warrents a 3 out of 5 star overall rating? Or did you rate the weather?
