PROS: Nicely appointed ship, great departure port, nice selection of on-board dining options, great destination, kid friendly beach with snorkeling a bar food and water sport rentals just 1,000 ft from the ship in Bermuda. Most crew members are quite pleasant and some are very good.
CONS: Balcony room (deck 11) design is poor. The space between the end of the sofa and the sliding doors on the closet was less than 6 inches so you had to stand on the sofa to open the closet door. They could, at least, have put the shelf side of the closet farther away and made the hanging side a little easier to reach. There is not as much attention to prompt room make-up as on other lines such as Royal Caribbean or Celebrity. Buffet area (Garden) is poorly laid out. At least make the signage run PERPENDICULAR to the serving line so people can see the signs before they are standing in front of what the sign describes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Except for the buffet area (Garden) all other restaurants were great. Especially enjoyed the variety of themes including a Japanese Steakhouse, Brazilian Rodizio, Traditional Steak & Chop house, etc...
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Activities were about what you would expect with Bingo, a sexiest legs contest, etc... but nothing special. There is, however, a fantastic rope experience and plank. The pool area is small and quite crowded.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Circ show is a must see, Rock of Ages wasn't too bad, Burn the floor was just OK. The Jazz & Blues Club (Fat Cats) was great as was the young Asian man that played guitar and sang was also great.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Seemed to be some pretty nice activities for kids, especially characters such as Dora the Explorer and Fairly Odd Parents.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Several memorable staff members but, overall, not quite as attentive as on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, etc...
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Very well appointed.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
There was more storage space than I expected and the shower stall was large and inviting. The closet, however, is another story. In our room the picture shown must have been taken from inside the closet because the distance from the end of the sofa you see in the picture to the sliding closet door is less than 6 inches and the hanger side (versus the side with shelves) is the farthest away from you so you might have to stand on the sofa to get at your clothes. Also, make sure you leave the chairs on the balcony just the way you find them. The balcony is so narrow that if you place them on an angle the sliding door will hit them when you try to open it.
Ship tip
There are several outside bars on the side of the ship in addition to those by the pool that are fantastic to just hang out. Most have tables and chairs besides the traditional stools and they are a great place to watch the sunset or view storms out on the horizon.
The city that never sleeps has so much to see and do you should add time to the beginning or end of your trip to explore it plus sailing down the Hudson past Ellis Island, Lady Liberty and the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge is amazing.
