Review summary
My first time on the Norwegian Breakaway, and with Norwegian for that matter. I took my son for his school break as something different to do. I had no idea what to expect. I loved this cruise from start to finish. Our balcony room was beautiful. Yes, it's small but it's a cruise ship and the rooms are not going to be huge. The balcony had two chairs and a small table on it, that's all you need! It was quite an experience to sit on the balcony and watch dolphins playing in the waves the boat was making, literally body surfing the waves! I do wish there was a clock in the room as I didn't take a watch and my cell phone was turned off for the duration. There is a small time display on the phone which I could read with glasses and by squinting real hard. The only reason to need to know the time is because there are so many wonderful activities scheduled and we wanted to do so many of them. The food was excellent everywhere we went. The staff was all wonderful and friendly and smiling. My son got a kick out of everyone calling me "madame". It was so refreshing to be treated so wonderfully each day. Our room steward was fantastic and he made a new animal out of towels each day and left it on my son's bed. My son was excited each day to see what the animal would be. Our steward even offered to teach my son how to make them. I really don't know what the complaints are about in some of these posts. It's a cruise ship and there are going to be many other people onboard. We never had to wait for a table for dinner. There is a line at the buffet but that's what you get at a buffet! The breakfast buffet at the Garden Cafe was superb. Literally anything you could ever want is there. So many different bars and entertainment options. There was a jazz band in one bar, Rat Pack music in another, disco, 80's night, etc. There was a wonderful, talented piano player in the main open area, The Atrium. Really, there was something for everyone. We saw Despicable Me:2 in 3D in the theater and it was great. Plus, waiters come around and take drink orders during the movie! In Nassau, we walked to the public beach and spent the day and it couldn't have been a nicer way to spend the day. I highly recommend this cruise ship and I know I will be going on the Breakaway again. The ONLY complaint I have is that we had smokers around us and they were smoking on the balcony, which forced me inside. The smoke would travel into my cabin and I had to close the door frequently. There should be a limited smoking section (the casino) and NO SMOKING allowed on the balconies. There are probably more non smokers than smokers and that stink is really offensive. I want to smell the sea air, not cigarette stench. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Ship tip
Early morning (buffet opens at 6 AM) in the Garden Cafe is the most relaxing, beautiful way to start your day. No crowds, no lines, hot fresh coffee, sun shining off the water....gorgeous.
