We were on Nieuw Amsterdam last March and loved it. It is for an older crowd but we went during school vacation so there was a mixture of ages. Not much to do on the ship during the day but that's what the ports are for. No bands or loud music at the pool. Just piped in music which made it so relaxing. The staff in the buffet was super. Always smiling and happy. Ready to help if needed. They also serve you at the buffet which seemed to be faster and not bad lines. The food was great. Main Dining Room food absolutely delicious. At the pool area they have a place called the Dive-in for hamburgs, hotdogs and French fries. Best hamburgers ever. Also on the other side of the pool is the pizza. Made to order and you get the whole pizza not just a slice. And the best Caesar salad. Our cabin steward always greeted us by name when he saw us and asked how our day was at the different ports. Cabin always spotless and never had to ask for anything. Would definitely go back on Nieuw Amsterdam or try other Holland America.

We are doing the exact same cruise as you did. We leave on the 30th. We picked it because we didn’t want a lot of kids on. How “old” was it. We are in our late 30’s. We picked “ younger” excursions to try and balance the old. We booked this to relax not be bothered by kids. All of ours are staying home
