7 Night Western Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)
Sail Date: March 25, 2012
Ship: Nieuw Amsterdam
Cabin Type: Balcony
Traveled As: Couple
Reviewed: 5 years ago
The number of passengers on this ship is 2100, yet the public areas appear to be similar in size to the smaller ships, thus causing long lines for food service, and the Movies in the screening room didn't have enough seats.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
food was good in the formal dining room, the Lido deck had mixed quality, and very long lines

Entertainment

3 out of 5
would have enjoyed additional variety rather than the singers and dancers, add some additional variety

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
All the kids we interfaced with seemed very happy with the services........

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
public areas were too small, lines were too long

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
rooms seemed smaller than other Holland America ships, and the beds were very firm, not as comfortable as past trips.

Pros: Wonderful time on the cruise

Cons: common areas size too small for the number of passengers

Recommends Nieuw Amsterdam? No.
