Great Ship Just Lacking Great Food by virgscott

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved the boat and the service was amazing.  Our only complaints were the poor food and the terrible desserts.  Also, the entertainment was only so so.  I think it would have been 4 stars except for the fact the ship was so overcrowded when we went in March that it made for terribly long lines everywhere.  Maybe next time we will remember not to travel during the spring break madness.

Great Cruise by fbhmjhhall

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

loved the cruise, loved the food, great service at dining areas & room service, clean  great balcony, good shows. do not like standing in line 1 hour plus to board even tho we had all preboarding papers in hand (one  member of our party of 8 ended in ship hospital & wheelchair rest of cruise we feel as result of standing in heat so long, could not find any place for her to sit or anyone to help us. Did not like standing in line to get thru customs 1 1/2 hrs to disembark. Our party of 8 was separated (took wheelchair 2 persons out first leaving them outside & rest  of us (6) in line 1 1/2 hrs before we could join them. Also no restrooms or chairs  found in that area.

Experience on the Navi gator of the seas 3-15-15 by TaiHong

All the services on the cruise was excellent . I really enjoyed the balcony room at the back of the ship . The room was a little shaky when the ship was moving, but other than that it was wonderful.

Everything on the cruise was great. The cruise staff was friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the Cosmopolitan bar and Willy the bartender. The excursions were excellent. The only thing we will do different is not go during spring break.

Good cruise by mlposey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I went with my 18 yr old daughter and her 17 yr old friend for their senior spring break trip. This was our 3rd time to cruise but 1st time for 7 days.  Days at sea were a little long and boring.  Would have been nice to have some movie channels in the room to occupy some down time. Especially on rainy days.

At night, they girls like to sit in the deli playing cards and people-watching.  they were quite embarrassed to be 'carded' and send to the room because of one 17 yr old. I think the age break should be reevaluated.

On Carnival they had free sushi and we were looking forward to something similar but was disappointed that it was only available through the specialty restaurant at an additional cost.

The ice skating show was amazing but thought the song and dance productions were weak. Coming from the dance world we were disappointed in the choreography for the stage shows. Singing may have been a result of bad monitors on stage.

It's been a while, so my memory may be faulty, but seems like Carnival had better late night food variety.  And wish there were chips to go with those deli sandwiches!  :)

Great and fun experience by swetzel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We are a family of 4 with 2 boys ages 10 and 13. We had a blast during spring break on the Navigator of the seas. The activities on the ship were great for our boys since they like competitions, tournaments and games. The ports (Roatan, Belize and Cozumel) were beautiful. The service and staff was great too. Even though the buffet for breakfast and lunch was ok, the food at dinner was delicious, especially the desserts. They had plenty of activities on the ship for families, adults and kids. We highly recommend this cruise.

REVIEW OF OUR CRUISE ON NAVIGATOR OF THE SEAS by raylago

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

IT IS A BEAUTIFUL SHIP. I WAS SURPRIZED THAT THE FOOD WASN'T BETTER.  TO GET A NICE STEAK AT THE MAIN DINING, YOU HAVE TO PAY MORE-AT THE MAIN DINING, YOU COULD ONLY GET A BREAKFAST STEAK. WE HAD ALWAYS SAILED ON CARNIVAL OR NCL AND THE FOOD WAS MUCH BETTER.  WE STARTED CRUISING IN THE 80'S AND THE SERVICE, THE FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT WAS MUCH BETTER.  IT SEEMS NOW THAT THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN GIVING PEOPLE A GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY.  MY HUSBAND BOUGHT A PICTURE AND A CD OF PICTURES TAKEN AND WHEN HE GOT HOME COULD NOT SEE THE PICTURES WITHOUT PAYING MORE MONEY.  OUR ROOM STEWARD, ANTHONY DE GUZMAN WAS WONDERFUL AND I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE OUT A SHOUT OUT OF PRAISE FOR LEA PING IN THE CASINO.  SHE WAS FABULOUS AND VERY ATTENTIVE TO MY NEEDS. OUR WAITERS IN THE DINING ROOM WERE VERY GOOD BUT SEEMED HARRIED AT TIMES WTH TOO MANY TABLES TO TAKE CARE OF.  REALLY ENJOYED THE ICE SHOW-WORTH SEEING.  DID ENJOY THE COMEDIANS AND MOTOWN GIRLS. NOT PLEASED WITH THE OPENING LAS VEGAS SHOW.  LOVE AND MARRIAGE GAME SHOW WAS FUN..  WE HAVE BEEN ON 17 CRUISES AND MY HUSBAND SAID IT WILL BE THE LAST- HOWEVER,I PROBABLY WOULD GO ON ANOTHER BUT, ON A SMALLER SHIP..BIGGER ISN'T ALWAYS BETTER!!!

Beds make it, or break it. Food too! by meansfamily20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a great cruise, our second on the Navigator 6 months. Entertainment was excellent and completely different than the cruise a few months before. Dining, well, at least consider you are on a ship, in five miles deep water!  A few more varieties in the buffet would be nice.  Over all , the ship and its crew were levery friendly and would do or get what you need in first order, always with a smile.

I would highly rec. this cruise to anyone.  It would be an excellent "first cruise" too!

This was our first cruise so I don't have anything to compare it to but we had a wonderful time. I gained 5 lbs and have nothing but praise for the food and crew. Just a fantastic 7 days.

Exactly what we needed! by garretthomescho

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had an amazing week aboard the Navigator of the Seas! It is an absolutely beautiful ship and we explored just about every inch of it! We were extremely pleased with just about every detail of the ship: our room was comfortable; the entertainment was enjoyable (except for Ed Alonzo, who was not funny at all, just stupid); the food was good (but not exceptional as we had experienced before); ship staff were very friendly; and the available activities on board were numerous (we especially enjoyed watching people try the Flowrider).

A cruise like this, with 3 full days at sea, gives an opportunity to do as much or as little as you choose. We often enjoyed pulling up a chair at the edge of the deck and just listening to the ocean, but we also enjoyed some of the trivia games, a shuffleboard tournament and watching a dodge ball tournament.

Shore excursion choices were numerous as well. For Jamaica, we chose the "Heart of Jamaica" tour, which became the highlight of the whole cruise. As part of the tour we stopped at a school where we got to visit with the children and then they sang for us. They were precious!

As mentioned before, we were a little disappointed in the food on this cruise. We were expecting it to be outstanding as we have experienced before (athough it was quite some time ago) but it was nothing special - very good, for the most part, but not outstanding. The Windjammer is a buffet and was as would be expected, but the main dining room did not meet our expectations. Perhaps it was that the food choices - we are midwesterners who love food for the common man, but many of the choices were more formal than that to which we are accustomed. We had room service for one meal and that was the best meal on the cruise!

While not perfect, this cruise was exactly the get-away we needed and we would go again in a heartbeat!

Cruise from Galvaston by Rich556

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First, like I usually do, I book a motel a day before the cruise (just to insure no timing problems). So I booked this cruise from Galveston and then a motel there.  Then air from San Diego to Houston, and thinking I would just rent a car at the airport and drop it off on the island, go on the cruise and rend another car when we returned and visit my cousin in Katy then fly home.  Problem:

You can not just rent a car at the airport and drop it off at the port.  The only car rental on the island is Enterprise and they don't accept other car companies cars.  So, the choice is take a taxi for a lot of money to the port.  Same back as Enterprise charges $200 a day if you try to drop a car off from the island.  So, what to do?  I looked at the web, to find a lot of people had/have the same issue.  The fact that .Royal Caribbean had a shuttle for the cruises.  No Royal C people told me about this.  So, I cancel the island motel, book one by the airport and am going to use the ship shuttle.  I call and find I can not buy a ticket over the phone/web. one has to just to appear on Sunday morning and buy a spot on the bus to the port.  So, we show up on Sunday morning (there is no one there except Sunday) and buy our tickets, I try to buy a return ticket, but you can not.  You have to buy it on the ship.  So late in the cruise I try to book the return shuttle, but NO, I had to do it a day before I tried to book them.  Was told I had to do it a day earlier!!  I was ticked, told the clerk that this was most likely the first and last Royal Caribbean cruise.  So, luckily our dinner mates found out and we returned back to the airport with them, rented a car there to do some Texas visiting.  We were also billed for a higher beverage package than I had purchased, glad I caught it, they had to cancel it and reduce the charges.

Food was the worse I have had on some 10 cruised.  The lobster night was a 1/4 pound thing that was cut in half and was almost impossible to get the meat out of.  I had to use two knives, our dinner mates had to have the servers remove their lobster meat.

Looking at the prices for the Wi-Fi is not worth it.

I was not impressed with this cruise/line

Old ship by vanhoe1943

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This ship was refurbished last year, but many details showed her age.  The balcony in our stateroom was small, showing rust and the flooring was coming up.  The mattress was old and bumpy.  Who knows how old it was.  Asked for a firmer mattress and was denied. The food in the main dining room was excellent.  The buffet was weak.  Fried eggs were precooked and put under a heating lamp.  The buffet only had one toaster working and toast was pre made and put in a a basket and cold.  Bread selection was limited to 3 choices.  Other ships have 5 or 6 selections.  The lunch buffet used dutch ovens and they were old and chipped.  Entertainment was ok but not great.  In the promenade there was music but limited or no seating.  I don't believe that I would cruise RCL again.

We went on the cruise to get away from the worries of daily life, phone calls, emails, etc.  The staff on the ship did an excellent job not only serving us, but always with a smile and kind word.  I love traveling with Royal Carribean Cruise lines!

Best cruise yet by pln3164

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Older Family of 7 had a great time...weather, service, food, ship was perfect...Not thriled with the lead singers in the shows the harmonies didn't blend in fact several people around us got up and left..the other singers and dancers were great..don't get me wrong they are very talented and have fine voices but their individual style and pitch was not in sync..My Sister -in-laws virtual screen was broken upon her arrival to her stateroom and the staff had if fixed in no time gave her a nice discount and a bottle of wine which was nice and saw to it all was well in her room..would have liked more time in Cozumel...Allure of the Seas docked about the same time as us and was allowed to stay till 6:00 I think our 3:30 was too early had to leave our resort at 2:30 to get back in time...other than that all was very nice..
