Review summary

We chose to stay onboard in the ports to enjoy the ship’s amenities without all the people. Navigator of the Seas surprised us in a good way and would take this cruise again if the price is right.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good in the complimentary dining locations. Bar drinks were varied and tasty.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Enjoyed the pool deck with plenty of pool, hot tub, and lounge space.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Stage shows were also good- not great. Enjoyed the ice skating show.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My 8 year old said it was OK. She didn’t bring home any cool projects like on other cruises.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This was the highlight of our cruise. Every staff member was amazing!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
For an older ship, I was impressed by the cleanliness and quality venues.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was clean and spacious. The balcony was double size and looked out over the aft of the ship.

Ship tip

Don’t write off a short cruise on an older ship. You will be impressed by the Navigator of the Seas!

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5
Easy embarkation! Took an Uber from Long Beach airport and parked to unload luggage directly in front of the ship.

Catalina Island, California

3 out of 5
A little crowded in Avalon. Did not take an excursion as we preferred the alone time on the ship while everyone was ashore.

Ensenada, Mexico Did not visit port

Been there done that. Too much violence in Baja to feel comfortable there.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
So fast and organized!

Thanks for sharing. Curious if the pool was crowded while the ship was at Catalina? We were planning on staying on the ship to enjoy the pool but not sure if renting a casita is necessary. Sounds like you noticed plenty of empty chairs on this port day?

We went with Liberty of the Seas. Correct me. We went with Princess on the Crown Princess and we went to Ensenada but we went through the ship's excursion. I'm sorry but you could have done that also and gotten off the ship. You don't go by yourself that's where people are wrong

I've been to Catalina Island and then sonata on my Norwegian southworth cruise back in 1989. Northern Southport is retired and it was scrapped in 2013 and I'm sorry you really didn't get off. I know you wanted to enjoy the shift but it's always good to get off especially when traveling so long. Maybe next time you will
