Review summary

All in all, we enjoyed our short cruise getaway. We are Emerald status and working our way to Diamond status. We have been loyal to Royal and are going on 2 more booked cruises with Royal Caribbean this year

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth and quick process

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Enjoyed most of the food. Disappointed that Royal's classic Creme Brulee was not on the dessert menu. Service was good in the main dining room and the specialty restaurant Chops Grille.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not as many activities that interested us this time on the cruise. Many of the activities were at a scheduled time not conducive to our dining time so we were not able to participate

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Not as many entertaining activities available. Ice skating show was amazing as always. Comedian was great.

Children's Programs

We do not have kids on cruise

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff and service were great as always. Our room steward Donnie was friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Nice ship and layout, however showing signs of wear and tear.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin is small. We have never booked an interior cabin. We have always had a balcony, spacious Oceanview or Junior Suite. It was cramped and difficult to get out of the bed so close to either side walls, that we had to enter and exit bed from bottom end. Toilet had a very black ring that I had to try and scrub clean with toilet brush

Ship tip

Very crowded cruise ship. If you prefer not to cruise with a LOT of kids, don't book during holidays, typical school vacations like summer or like we did, during a great bargain cruise. Parents will take their children out of school and bring on a discounted cruise

Ports of call

Catalina Island, California

3 out of 5
The Descanso Beach resort was closed due to construction and we always like to go there on Catalina Island

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
We went on an excursion with 8 other guests in a van to 2 different wineries for tastings. L. A. Cetto was the best.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Lots of people getting off ship, however mostly orderly and efficiently done
