Review summary

Great cruise for couples, and families. Plenty of kids, but didn't bother me. I'll say this again. DO NOT CRUISE ROYAL SOLO, EVER!

Food was excellent everywhere! However, I asked to be seated with other solo travelers when I booked the cruise. I asked again at the dining room when I first boarded that morning. I was seated with a family of 7 and one other couple. Awkward. After the first dinner, they seated me at a table for 2 for the rest of my cruise (i.e. I ate by myself) which turned out okay.

I did not go to any of the main shows. The entertainment in the bars was good to great.

I slept the first 2 nights on a super soft mattress which destroyed my back. I requested a bed change. My bed was changed from then on out. My fault. I should have spoke up right away.

Ship tip

Royal is a BAD CHOICE for solo cruisers. Only 1 scheduled activity. A self-led Meet and Greet for solo travelers between 8:30pm and 9pm at the R Bar. I was the only solo cruiser that showed up for the first 3 nights. I stopped showing up after that. I made it clearly obvious I was a solo traveler. Total bust! DON'T SOLO CRUISE ON ROYAL, EVER!

NO INTERNET CONNECTIVITY once off the ship. Getting off the ship, it took me 50 minutes to "connect" and get an Uber to the airport. Horrible, stress filed experience.
