Review summary

Would not recommend. Was not a very positive experience for anyone in my family. We were just disappointed in so many ways on this ship. It was our first time cruising with Royal, and some people in my family said it will be their last. I don't know if the experience we had is the norm on that ship, but I really hope not. I hope that other people that take a cruise on this ship have a great time.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
The embarkation process was a disaster. The line to drop off your bags to the porters was an hour long, then you entered the line to get on the ship. The line to go through security and then the check in line took another hour. We thought that that was it, and we would be able to go up the gangway and board the ship. Little did we know they were checking your documents, after the gangway, the moment you stepped in the ship. Because of that, we were in a long line on the gangway which was enclosed in glass walls for half an hour. It was so hot in there with the sunlight beating in and all the people crammed together. It was awful. They also ended up losing our bags, but thankfully they were found and we were able to pick them up from the help desk late that night. We have cruised with Carnival and Princess and the embarkation process was so much smoother.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food on this ship was very disappointing. The food that was supposed to be hot was room temperature, and the food that was supposed the be cold was room temperature. There wasn't a lot of variety to the food. The food in the main dining was just ok. There was only one meal that was memorable, everything else was mediocre. The service staff was great though.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The entertainment was pretty good. I enjoyed the ice saking show and the main production show.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My niece had a great time at the kid's club. She was always happy to go and make some new friends.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service and staff on the ship were good overall. I have had better service on both Carnival and Princess.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The layout of the ship was great and easy to navigate. The ship was also very clean. One thing I was pretty disappointed in was that the big screen at the pool was absolutely unwatchable. The screen was horrible and the only color that was visible was green. Just shades of green.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was clean, but the bed was horribly uncomfortable. It was so hard that if you sat on the corner of it, it did not sink under your weight at all. Barely got any sleep due to how uncomfortable the bed was. My arms kept falling asleep and my mid and upper back were so sore.

Ship tip

Hopefully you are not a foodie and have no desire to watch movies on the big screen on the pool deck.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarkation went smoothly. We decided to disembark with all of our bags the reduce any possible problems. Took about 40 minutes total to get through disembarkation.
