Review summary

Overall we were disappointed with the extras we thought we may receive with paying for a suite. Turns out they did not really have anything extra. We ended up in very long lines and almost 2 and a half hours to just get onboard and they did not have anyone to assist or to take our luggage. There was really no special area for suites for loading or unloading. I'm not saying we are any better than anyone else but if you pay the extra something should come with it. The service we received wasn't even close to what we have received in the past with concierge class on Celebrity. On the plus side, if you are traveling with children there are many things to do but plan on waiting in long lines.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
No one seemed to know what was going on. They didn't even have information as to luggage so we had to haul around for the over 2 hours to get on to the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food and service was great. Buffet had very good food but do to the full ship it was tough to get around. Main dining was great. I did 4 star only because we had the drink package mainly because we both like different type coffees, teas, etc. They really didn't have anywhere other than Starbucks and they didn't take the drink card. So we got hosed on that. My wife did have a few beers and some wine.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Once again due to the full ship it was hard to get to anything. Could not even get on a treadmill as they were full each time I tried to get on one.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiters, especially in main dining were great.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Overall the ship was clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Room was nice and comfortable. Plenty of storage space and large bathroom. The balcony was big and nice view from back of the ship but beams across did hinder the view somewhat. I was surprised though, it did not come with robes. There really are not any perks that come with a suite other than a little bigger cabin.

Ship tip

Our ship was totally full with many children. Doing anything onboard was difficult and plan on many lines.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

3 out of 5
We parked and it was handy and was only $20 per day. (Only because it's LA.)

Catalina Island, California

4 out of 5
We did anchor out

Ensenada, Mexico

4 out of 5
We did an excursion to the blow hole. La Bufadora, other than the drive through construction it was an enjoyable trip. (Booked through cruises.com)

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
There was no rhyme or reason as to their disembarkation plan. It took almost 2 hours to get off the ship.

All suites Jr and above should come with robes. All you had to do was ask your stateroom attendant!

Probably booked a Junior Suite as it states you don’t get ‘Suite’ benefits with a Junior Suite, just a bigger cabin basically.

I don't envy you having to deal with the kids and their AWOL parents. I've never forgotten a summer Baltic cruise where I had to deal with that. At least you didn't catch Covid.

You should have seen Porters when you arrived at the cruise terminal. They would have been more than glad to have taken your luggage for you and gotten it onto the ship. I know that Royal Caribbean Cruise Line sells a strictly coffee card. Or you can even get the non-alcoholic package and get specialty coffees on board. They are not just at starbucks. You can get specialty coffees in the dining room, at the buffet, specialty dining, or anywhere on the ship. And it may depend on what level you are at in Royal Caribbeans Crown and Anchor society as far as what extra perks you get it doesn't necessarily mean that if you book a suite that you're guaranteed that you're going to get robes. That's just like me and my wife right now we will qualify to get some extra perks on our next ceiling.

Porters usually take all luggage prior to boarding the ship. That was troublesome to have to take yours around until the cabin was available. A good TA could have helped to make some of these things go better.

Appreciate your feedback. Yep, Summer equals many children when cruising (at least that’s my equation). Glad you somewhat enjoyed your cruise in spite of several inconveniences.
