Review summary

We love cruising. Had a good time on this cruise. Unfortunately, it is the truth that the "perks" of being a loyal Diamond member have significantly decreased over the years. We noticed this as well last Thanksgiving when we cruised on this same ship: embarkation/check-in is no longer convenient as it once was; the Royal "App" is terrible, it simply lacks in all areas and needs improvement (given that we are essentially compelled to use it, the APP needs improvement); the "pre check-in" is a total waste of time; some staff members on the pier at embarkation need to be fired for their rudeness. While Disney is more expensive, I am starting to see why it may be worth the price.

Embarkation

Terrible. I am a diamond plus traveler; in the "old days," chekc in was MUCH better. Seems now that diamond status does not mean much. Also: I encountered a TREMENDOUSLY RUDE woman at the checkin counter. Passengers should not be lectured and threatened for having made an error in the online checkin forms. Further: the online so-called "pre checkin" is a tedious waste of time. The pre-checkin needs to be eliminated. Carnival, Princess and Disney provide much smoother and easier checkin processes.

Ship Quality

The ship seems cramped, especially in the main promenade area. While the ship was clearly not at full capacity, it felt uncomfortably crowded many times.

We have cruised RCI and have reached Diamond plus. I agree lots of little things have disappeared from the perks, as for priority boarding for Diamond plus status " not at Southampton you dont" but it is what it is I guess.

We like the on-line pre- check in process very much. It is very convenient and eliminates waiting in line. You making to much of a big deal being a diamond member. I don’t agree with your comment about the Royal app. I have no problem with it.

Appreciate your feedback. Glad you somewhat enjoyed your cruise!

Thanks for the review. Cruising while school is in session usually gives a better experience. There have been many cutbacks across most cruise lines since Covid, including priority boarding and other perks some were used to previously.
