Review summary

For the price, it was a great getaway. The ship is amazing. The crew is amazing. Catalina Island was nice, Ensenada left us wanting more. The weather was cool, so we didn’t get to utilize the surf machine, pools and slides…but still had a really nice time. Food was middle of the road.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
This was my first cruise. I went into it hearing a lot about how good the food is on one. I was underwhelmed. Not awful by any means, but not phenomenal either.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Ton of options, however outdoor temperatures kept me out of the pool/slides.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
COVID precautions cancelled some performances. I enjoy live music, would be nice to have more options throughout the day. The various trivia games were fun.

Service and Staff

By far the best aspect of this cruise. Everyone I encountered was so kind and welcoming.

Ship Quality

Awesome ship, well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was great. Really enjoyed the balcony. I don’t think I’ll ever do another cruise w/o a balcony.

Ship tip

Get a room with a balcony! Really cool to be out there watching the navigation of the ship when entering/exiting the ports.

No excursion.

Catalina Island, California

Walked the town of Avalon up and down. Did some shopping and had a delicious lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Felt safe, great setting.

Ensenada, Mexico

We wanted to check out the shops on the main drag/strip/street, but the begging and attempts to get you into a store is overwhelming. If you give someone a seconds worth of attention, it’s a barrage of sales pitches. I would’ve definitely spent more time and money shopping if the environment was more laid back, but we were uncomfortable and decided to try some tacos at a couple places and get back to the ship ASAP. I understand that the locals rely on the travelers to provide revenue, but it’s just a bit much to endure and enjoy.
