Review summary

Good cruise and would consider again for a weekend trip. Overall some areas for improvement. Been several years since I have cruised Royal, and am surprised at the lower quality as have experienced and perceived Royal to be a step up from entry level cruise lines, and frankly this cruise was basically just equivalent to entry level lines.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Best embarkation ever. Fast and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Buffets were disappointing. Main was good, but not exceptional except for steak which was surprisingly excellent.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Main show was disappointing. Skating show was good. Lounge acts, etc. were average for cruise ships.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Overall staff was friendly and efficient.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Encountered a couple maintenance issues throughout cruise. Not serious but perhaps ship is not being kept up to full maintenance. Occasionally crew was slow to pick up items left scattered by passengers, which I find quite rude by the passengers, but nevertheless crew has to look for those items.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Virtual balcony interior room. Was on a guaranteed rate so this room was assigned. For an interior room the virtual balcony was both a pro and a con. Nice to have the indication of daylight. However would suggest repositioning camera. Was aimed too far into horizon making any beach, water, etc show up very low on the screen requiring furniture be moved to actually see something besides sky.

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Was disappointed after all the build up about Coco-cay. Have visited private islands from other cruise lines and found them nicer and offered higher quality food and drink. Better wait service on the beach would make for a large improvement. However, I suspect this is a preferred island for travelers with children due to the waterpark.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
No hassle and extremely fast.

Sorry that your cruise was less than it could have been.
