Review summary

We had a good time overall, but there were many things lacking.  Very crowded, pool area too many people.  The day going to Jamaica, for early excursion, the breakfast area was not opened earlier to accommodate.  The exiting process was very long, felt like we were waiting for a ride at Disney.

This was my first cruise, and not looking to book another one.  I think cruises might be good for people in groups, but not a couple.

Also, the cruise director seemed to be not engaged.  We barely saw him, and the only time we did, other than announcing the evening acts, did not seem to acknowledge the guests.

Also, for formal night, we had dressed up in a suit and dress, while people in the dining room, were in gym shoes, t-shirts and jeans.  I think the minimum requirements, would be no jeans, or gym shoes and a collared shirt.  If that isn't possible, for that evening, people not meeting the formal attire, split them to another floor.

Additional comments, the cruise director seemed to not be engaged.  We had been around areas, and was very seldom around, and if so, certainly did not seem to acknowledge the guests.

One suggestion for the formal night also, we had dressed up appropriately, suit and dress, while in the dining room, people are dressed in jeans, gym shoes and t-shirts.  Perhaps, the rules would be a minimum of no gym shoes, jeans, and the very minimum collared shirts.  Or, if people are wanting to wear more casual clothes in the dining room that evening, maybe at a different level.

You definitely should try another ship as well... We have been on 10 in the last 11 years...most as a couple two in groups...We have really gotten our routine down... One gets a table the other gets there food... Plan later excursions to avoid the rush... Our get off early and grab breakfast in port... There are plenty of little things you learn trust me..

The first cruise is always a learning experience. If you ever cruise again remember what to do and where to go. For breakfast and the pool go early.

We have done cruises as a couple and in small and large groups. The cruise is what you make it however be it a ship or resort I have never seen a pool that was not crowded. The buffet opens at 6:00 am and excursions don't leave that early so I am a little confused by that comment. Cruising may not be your thing if you don't like crowds.

From your comments, it seems like you could enjoy a smaller slightly more intimate ship or even a resort. If you travel to a sun destination , do you go to a mega resort or choose a boutique or exclusive one? If that is the case then try picking a itinerary that is available with a smaller ship with fewer passengers.

Just like resorts, camping, hiking or any other vacation, cruising isn't for everyone. Hope you find your favorite vacation, we found ours and it usually includes salt water and large ships.
