MSC Virtuosa

5 Night Northern Europe (Southampton Roundtrip)

Sail date: October 20, 2024

Ship: MSC Virtuosa

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Review summary

Passengers and crew were outstanding. Didn't hear one argument/dispute. Almost everyone said excuse me, pardon me or thank you when appropriate. The people on this cruise were more well mannered than the ones I encountered on my recent Queen Mary 2 cruises. I hope to book additional cruises on this ship after I see how my upcoming 14 night cruise goes. 🤞

Embarkation

5 out of 5
First in line to enter the terminal. They accepted my large luggage. The boy was surprised about me tipping him. I guess it's not typical?

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I had no issues with any of the food including specialty restaurants. Actually, the buffet had a better selection than my other MSC ships' experiences. First of all nothing was over salted or too sweet. For some reason I really liked their Cumberland sausages and corn fritters.😋

Onboard Activities

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I only ran across one senior staff member with a condescending demeanor. There's always one. But everyone I made contact with was pleasant including my room steward.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Everything in my cabin was fine.

Ship tip

Determine where you want to sit in the buffet dining room before you go get your food. There's always a place to sit. Just figure it out before you start to load up your plate. It can get crowded, but keep walking to the front or the rear, and you should find a table.

Ports of call

Falmouth, Cornwall, England

5 out of 5
We went to Portsmouth, UK instead due to the weather.

Cork, Ireland

5 out of 5
The city was very picturesque. I also went on the "Titanic guided walking trail tour" there but it was not very good as the guide constantly got off topic and started talking about her personal life and would forget what she was saying originally. That's a pet peeve of mind. I plan on going back and going to the Titanic Experience located in the original ticket office building of White Star for the Titanic.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation isn't necessary for passengers that have a back to back cruise. The excursion desk handles it all. Issues a new cruise card and deactivates the old one and can handle payment methods.
