Review summary

This was for us a group cruise organised by YouTubers the Cruise Monkeys. MSC really pulled out the stops to help them make it special. They provided a daily meeting venue and added some nice touches. Our first MSC but won’t be our last. We’ll look to do a longer one possibly from Europe. If we get the chance to cruise with the Monkeys again we’ll definitely try to do it.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very well organised. We parked at ABP and literally walked for 3 minutes to get into the terminal. Check in was fast and slick. We were then given a number and asked to wait in the seating area. After around 10 minutes we were called to board. Our allotted time was 11am and we were on a few minutes before that.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food in the MDR was ok. Breakfast was nice, evening meals not always the best but quite acceptable. Service was attentive and staff friendly and knowledgeable. Buffet was fantastic. Lots of choices. Butchers cut and Indocine were excellent and felt special.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The rope course and water park looked good. F1 simulators, bowling etc onboard and come the evening, especially on such a short cruise the ship became a real party boat. Quite noisy boardering on rowdy later on.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Really friendly. They worked so hard. Short cruises like this one from the UK tend to become ‘booze cruises’ and this was no exception with plenty of stag and hen parties etc. This coupled with plentiful all inclusive must have pushed the bar staff to the limit.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Stunning ship. Very clean. Cabin felt modern and classy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was changed prior to the cruise from deck 9 to deck 10. Downside was an interconnecting door to the next cabin which we don’t like but to be fair to the occupants next door we never heard a thing. Other than that no complaints at all. Comfortable, clean and bang up to date.

Ship tip

On a short cruise from the UK you will que to get to the bar. We Brits do love a drink or 10 especially on all inclusive holidays. We’re told that longer cruises are much better.

Ports of call

Portland (Weymouth), England, UK

4 out of 5
Didn’t do an excursion. Took the free shuttle bus into Portland and had a walk around. To be fair MSC also offered a free transfer to Weymouth and plenty of tours. We had specialist dining booked for lunch so got back aboard in time for that. Nice send off later by the port with a gun salute.

Cherbourg, France

5 out of 5
Weather was nice. You can walk straight off the boat here. Took a nice walk up to the town and back.

Disembarkation

Self disembarked. Waited for the call over the tannoy. Off and in the car by 07:50am. Spot on.
