Review summary

MSC Yatch Club Review I will write this review in the sequence as I experienced the Seaside and will compare to the experiences I had on the Davina in 2015 where it applies. I realize that this is my own personal feeling and experience. Take it with a grain of salt and experience it for yourself. Embarkation: Very smooth. Terminal F is very nice. The port butler escorted us to the front of the security line then to the reception area where we were served drinks and pastries while waiting for an available reception desk. The wait was not long. As a YC member, the silicone bracelets were included. The bracelets have a YC symbol on them, so as to distinguish the differences from the ones you can purchase. The port butler then escorted us up to the ship, bypassing the long lines. He then handed us to the ship butler who escorted us to the YC area on deck 16. Balcony Room: Large and very nice. I love the memory foam bed and pillows (4). Our bed does have a top sheet and was very soft. The balcony is a bit bigger than the standard balcony. Very big TV screen is about 50”. Marbled floor and counter in the restroom. The shower stall is bigger than the standard with a rain fall shower head. It also has a magnifying mirror. The room has 1.5 closet. The .5 closet has two robes and slippers. There are 5 drawers standard size for a cruise ship. After unpack, we slipped our two large suit cases under the bed. See the posted photos. YC dining and lounge areas: Very nice and quiet. There are always someone to help you. YC has anytime dining so we did not feel rushed. They are very accommodating. My girlfriend does not eat meat, the maitre d’ talked to the chef to make some off the menu dishes for her. Most patrons wore “smart” casual (shirt/polo and slacks) on most occasions except elegant nights. There is a small buffet on the top deck for breakfast and lunch (not a lot of selections though). Buffet: The two main buffets (Marketplace and Biscayne Bay) were somewhat of a disappointment in comparison to Davina. There are less food options. The salad bars are small. Bread selections are less. Deserts were good. Under the Ethnic section, they have Taco for the last four days. I hope they don’t think Mexican is the only Ethnic foods. Davina had Asian in their Ethnic section. Pizza is still great, but with less options. I wish they have the breakfast pizza like on the Davina. Atrium: The atrium is grand, but I’d prefer the coziness of Davina. When there is a band above the bar, we had to look up for the entire show. Neck hurts after awhile. There are more Swarovski stairs for you to take pictures. There is one French restaurant Le Boheme next to the atrium, but it is always empty. Main dining: We were assigned to the YC dining so did not experience main dining. However, in talking with someone on the ship, he said the two main dining areas could not accommodate everyone so they closed off the marketplace during dinner time and turned that into a third dining area with table clothes. According to him, folks with Bella experience are assigned to the Marketplace dining. However, this is hearsay so I hope someone can confirm. Entertainment: The shows were pretty good. Of course not to Broadway or Vegas standard, but what do you expect with it being complementary with the cruise. I enjoyed it. I like how I can reserve through the MSC for me app. If you don’t like opera, you don’t have to see go and see it. There are other entertainments throughout the ship. Stop complaining about the shows unless you are willing to pay $$$ to get top level performers. Casino: I don’t gamble so did not experience this area. It looks nice though. Port days: One nice thing about being in the YC is being escorted to the front of the line when returning to the ship. It saved us a lot of time. Staff: Staff is hit and miss. As with any service industry, you have good and bad employees. It is just part of human nature. It is how well you treat the staff and in return they will treat you well. Don’t just rely on the $12.50/day of tips as your only tip. We tipped out butler, room stewards and dining staff. Tips do not need to be extravagant, $10 to $20 can get you excellent service for the rest of your trip. Apply the Golden Rule everyday. Sewer smell: I guess it depends on how sensitive your nose is. I did not smell anything, but my girlfriend said she did. It is not everywhere. Only on certain part of the ship, so we avoid those areas. Sometimes we would go back to that same area and there was no smell. Hopefully this was not too long. Just wanted to provide you with some info. We are halfway through the cruise. If there are any more info, I will provide. If you are able to, I would highly recommend YC. Just the benefit of all you can drink in all areas, gelato, mini bar, larger room, nicer beddings, priority everything, the price paid for itself. Would I sail her again? Maybe if they restore the food selections of that on the Davina then I would consider. The Davina was what turned me into cruising.
