Review summary

Just got off the 1st sailing from Miami. Overall I would give this experience a very low rating. Now taking into account that it’s a new ship I won’t do that but I also feel like simple dinning room rules were not applied ex. Clearing of plates ( like snails) asking for well Done steak and getting (M) twice, conversation , no creamer at the table for coffee with dessert then we were told they don’t have cream in the dinning room !!!!!! What !!! God forbid you get coffee with the actual dessert that you ordered. Extremely slow! I don’t think our waiter understood English very well. How could you have someone working as a waiter that doesn’t understand English. Anyways. Moving on. Cabins , 14094 ,balcony Small small small. Set for 2 people Not a family of 4. No room to put anything anywhere. You have one side of a closet for clothes and 3 small dresser draws. That’s it ! For a family of 4!!! Plus the couch converts into bunk beds which is awesome except the gentleman that cleans the cabins never came to clean our room til 2 o’clock and sometimes only once a day. And wouldn’t even put the couch back to normal so we at least have some more room During the day. My husband asked for another pillow which by the way they have a sign in the room about it saying just ask your host for more info about obtaining such pillow and he was told the ship Is full and no pillows avail ! What happens if someone got sick on a pillow. Would they just not give them one for the rest of the cruise. Very smiley fella but again maybe didn’t understand English well or something. Balcony was decent sized. Bathrooms were ok. The shower is really small. I am not skinny by any means but I am also not 300lbs. I’m not sure how anyone got in there over 200 lbs which is a lot of men and women these days. They didn’t supply conditioner which would of been nice to know before hand so YOUR WELCOME future cruisers. Lol. Also the shampoo and body gel they supply is not a great smell at all but that’s my personal opinion-at least they supplied it. Towels were taken and not given back until Later on in the day. Again our host saying they were having a towel issue and he would get them to us ASAP. We were heading to the pool for the day so noooooooo towels for us when we’re get out of the pool. Not ok. Bar tenders all seemed annoyed when you ordered except for a few. Maybe because we had tickets for drinks but a lot Of people had them. Casino was great. Smokers kinda kept to one side and I enjoyed myself. SPA. I finally went to the spa and man what a great experience. I wish I would of been able to tour the spa the first day -they would of made some money on me for sure but I didn’t get to because they said someone was using it ( prob a important person or famous person ) They really should keep this open the first few hours boarding. They would make a lot Of money. The day use was fantastic. The jacuzzi , rain showers , salt room , dark sauna room , and ICE ROOM was a great experience. If you go on this ship -it is worth buying the spa experience For the week. Trust me! I will leave you with this DO NOT think anything will be handled on the boat. It won’t. Make sure your “status “ For each member in your group is correct. We are gold Members and the lady at the future cruise desk was unable to look into the computer and see that my 12 yoa son was a gold Member as the rest of us. She said the computer is what counts. After some terrible annoying looks and talking she said she could change his status to gold for this cruise. Yet , when the signature gift came in the room , my son didn’t get one because they didn’t have him as a GOld member. But that’s ok. We snuck in the black party with my parents and got a solid Chocolate boat. Yum yum. Made up for it. Lol. My opinion is my opinion but when speaking to a lot Of people on the cruise they experienced the same things as I which made me feel like I wasn’t being to picky. I would wait for this cruiseship to work out it’s kinks before booking.

It’s 1189 per person so yea. Do we have access to specialty restaurants? The rep said yes, but it doesn’t say on the invoice just says Mediterranean and something else

Teamstrong    6 years ago

I haven’t looked at the price breakdown I have 6 people so I’ll have to see.

ptinehoutx    6 years ago

Was your upgrade expensive? Maybe we got a good deal initially but when I called to upgrade it was $600 more than my original ticket, each.

Teamstrong    6 years ago

Yay!! Me too can’t wait I’m in the Aurea experience also should be fun

Saling on MSC Seaside on June 2, 2018. We upgraded to Aurea Suite with all the perks!! With all the bad reviews, lets see how this experience plays out.

How was my time sitting big line??

rocky712 I hope the Yacht club works out better for you. I have heard really good things about it and I'm sure I would be booked there too if I could afford it. But right now I am only fortunate enough to be able to cruise once a year in a cheaper cabin. I'm hoping that could change one day....like when I win the Lotto.

you are completelly right. all these things happened at the beginning of the Divina. beautiful ships but bad service.

ptinehoutx    6 years ago

Rocky712, you are saying the Thermal area is worth the extra for the week? Are you able to just walk in for those services or do they have to be scheduled in advance?

rocky712    6 years ago

Travelwizard1. I am going on another cruise in March but if I had the option to cancel without loosing half the money I would. The only thing keeping me going is I have the YC in March. Hopefully this will help with some issues I had in Dec. Overall I do think a cruise is what you make of it. I had fun and I will be in the spa Daily on next cruise.

People put towels on the chairs and were never at them. Crowded but I expected this because the ship was sold out. I didn’t see any wait staff helping with finding a spot but I do hope this is not the case. I overheard a couple ask a gentleman to move someone’s towel seeing they didn’t come Back for hours but I didn’t listen or care about the result of that seeing I was mining my own business

ptinehoutx    6 years ago

Can you tell us about the process for booking the spa? We pay online first then book on the ship? Also, how crowded were the pools? Was there plenty or was it difficult to get a spot? Wait staff available while laying by the pool?

giovanna    6 years ago

Thank you for your quick to respond !!! anything you need to book before ?? With a 10 years?

Art42    6 years ago

you do not need to book shows just check times on your daily info

giovanna    6 years ago

Me too. March 10 we need to book any of the show??

footpadnomad    6 years ago

Me too. March 10. I like to hear about other people's experience but know you have to see for yourself and make the best of what there is to enjoy. Rocky, sounds like you still managed to have some fun and good memories. Did you use MSC for me? Seems like the only included food is at the main dining room and the 2 buffets. Can you comment? Any snacks at any of the other cafes and bars included or all a la carte?

Art42    6 years ago

we are on Seaside March 10 all I care is the good weather

We cruised the DIVINA on 3 occasions and booked for SEASIDE in March 2018. MSC is always having website issues. Not having the right reward level. Not recognizing you as a person already booked and paid , etc. can’t understand why such a big company can’t get their act together as far as their website is concerned. Very annoying

Art42    6 years ago

I think this review is about everything and nothing for me nothing special it is a brang new cruise with a new crew it takes few weeks to get everythig working on other hand it is Italian cruise with a lot if hands gestures we wrer on Divina before and it was crazy some places but if you know how to make things work for you yiu good remember it is one of the cheeper cruise so do not expect too much vacation is what you make out of it do not count on others try other cruises to compare happy cruising

I just want to comment on the fact staff does not speak Enlish well. Just be open minded you are on a Holiday outside the USA so people do speak differend languages ☺. Invest to understand them and learn some of their words. I am from Europe and learned to speak at least 3 languages 😁 this makes life so much easier and you will create a smile on the orher persons face when they realise you speak their language.

I guess it could not have been that bad...you're booked again in a few months. I think all new ships are a chaotic mess the first couple months. I'm hoping the kinks are worked out by next December. Loved the Divina so I'm pretty sure this will be good for me too.

Teamstrong    6 years ago

MSC is definitely a different experience lol I sailed on Davina and it was a beautiful ship but they don’t cater to Americans. We did carnival and thought they had better entertainment and food but overall MSC is more luxurious. Carnival is too much partying for a family in my opinion. MSC is more relaxed and it is what you make of it for the most part. Bad service though is everywhere and I would’ve adjusted my tips at the end. I always bring my own shampoo and conditioner, lotions never depend on those they are awful.

2by2 I don't think it's her first cruise since she talked about getting her gold member status gift. I think she was saying she was on the 1st sailing that this ship made IN Miami.

IkeDeb    6 years ago

Thanks for the review. That is the only way we can get an idea of different cruises.

2by2    6 years ago

Don't let your first cruise stop you from cruise and again try another Cruise liner and that way you'll have something to compare it with good luck on your next Cruise

Zip line was awesome. Slides were fun but getting the band was annoying because I didn’t want to wear it on dressy night so I would have to go back To the line and get another one. Annoying but doable
