I had high hopes when I walked onto the ship but they were quickly lost at our first attempt to get a drink and ask for directions. Should have known the price was too good to be true. This cruise line was like the Frontier airline of ships.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We arrived late so maybe that's why it went so smoothly. No lines. Prior to arriving, it was suggested that you upload a security photo for a smoother check-in process. We did. They took new ones but never explained why, or that they were actually taking a photo. It was very strange.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Food was ok. Not great. Not terrible. Drinks were inconsistent and service was TERRIBLE.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
I didn't partake in any but they had a full indoor basketball court and some cool video and simulation experiences, as well as bowling, but all for additional fees. The one thing I was looking forward to was the water slide but it was closed due to wind (which I don't understand since it's 100% contained.).
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Apparently you had to pre-book shows which wasn't clear at all and super frustrating bc other ships I've been on you just show up! But it was probably a good thing because there was plenty of talk and feedback which was all bad - "boring", "unimpressive", "not worth it", etc. Some musicians were good - piano player, sax player. DJ was ehh.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
Where do I begin? ZERO communication. Bar service was TERRIBLE - understaffed, uninterested in serving, often short on glasses, over charging and inconsistent charging between bars, receipts were offered less than 1/2 the time and at one point I asked for one and the bartender couldn't figure it out - he got another woman who tried and then just gave up to continue about her business without saying anything to us. When we had to find any sort of information, staff would point us in a direction (or not have any idea) but when we got there, we'd be pointed in another direction. We experienced "circles" multiple times.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was beautiful and elegant. Our bathroom hadn't been cleaned when we arrived - body hairs on the floor and bath products in the shower. Dining halls were ehh. Tables and Dishware were clean. Everywhere you went there were empty glasses and plates that hadn't been cleared - various didning areas as well as bar tops, hallways, lounge areas, etc.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Bathroom was dirty upon arrival, but it was well-lit and spacious with good storage spots. The cabin was clean and spacious-feeling. There was not enough closet/drawer space for even our 2-cruise. There were a handful of hangars, three small drawers, and two shelves (one of which was occupied by the safe). Every other cruise line I've been on I was so impressed with the clothing storage setup - spacious AND equal space/features for each person. This room seemed setup of a single person. The bed was typical with two twins pushed together to make a double but the mattresses would NOT stay together. I could not sleep close to my partner because one of us would be akwardly positioned in the crack, which only widened. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The heat/ac worked well. There was a little seat at the mirror with a built-in hairdryer but the spotlight was off center and very harsh; the shadows it caused made it impossible to do makeup.
Ship tip
Save your money - there are hidden fees EVERYWHERE and the service is beyond terrible. It was a common theme amongst passengers (new and repeat cruisers), and the repeat guests confirmed that the experience was par for the course.
