Sailed on Independence of the... by Musthave1booked

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Magnifica

Sailed on Independence of the Seas, Adventurer of the Seas, Voyager of The Seas, MSC Opera and MSC Magnifica so to compare, and this is in my honest opinion, MSC Magnifica are at the top of the cruise class for cleanliness and have by far the best, happiest, friendliest staff I have come across. From the moment we were welcomed onboard staff passing by in the corridors, lifts stairs etc., we found would smile/say morning to us. Our cabin was a balcony and inside and both were very modern, cleaned to the highest standard and very comfortable and quiet, Size was similar to Royal Caribbean inside although the balcony cabin was slightly wider on the Magnifica as I could get my case passed bottom of bed of bed on Voyager but has plenty of room on Magnifica. We mainly ate breakfast lunch and dinner in MDR, we prefer our food to be brought to us by pleasant staff although we did us the Sahara Buffet area a few time when we slept in too late for breakfast in MDR and found the breakfast there hot, constantly replenished, great choice and tasty. There were plenty of opportunities throughout the day to have snacks, afternoon tea etc and bars and cafes would provide sandwiches, biscuits and cakes and in the evening the bars also produced bowls of crisps, nuts, olives, anti pasta and finger food, fabulous little touch. Ship is spotless, never felt overcrowded and has plenty of places to go to if you find Tiger bar to loud, the sports bar and bars near the shops are great little places to sit and have a drink and relax. Card room and games room was always available for us to use and the theatre was stunning. Drinks package, we had the lower of the two prices, bottles of Heineken, loads of cocktails, shorts and mixers (cans of Pepsi, 7 Up), wine, bottles of water, milkshakes, smoothies, Baileys, sweet and dry prosseco by far cheapest we have paid for the cocktails to be included. Bar staff very friendly but understaffed, order with the cocktail waitress around the pool, Tiger Bar, Sports Bar etc and you will save yourself a long wait at the bar. Entertainment team, as most do, work extremely hard, we found them to be very attentive, would pop over to chat, remembered our names, always seemed to be happy to be there big shout out to all of the staff especially GiGi, Kayla and Khalid, give these guys a raise MSC as they are a credit to your company. Would I travel with MSC again yes, I personally enjoy cruising with other nationalities, makes Me feel like I’m on my holiday, however, as my children are teenagers they found the teen club, even though we traveled from Southampton, to be majority German, Spanish and Italian teens so language was a barrier and if we travelled from say Barcelona in the future I’d have to weigh up the lack of British teens on board for them. Having said that they did live their holiday and made some great friends.

Ship: MSC Magnifica

Nice cruise. The staff is very friendly. The food is very good from diff country's. All the ports are wonderful. MSC was the only cruise ship at most ports. Excursions with msc are very organised and very well priced. Also the drinks are well priced compared to other cruise lines such as carnival and royal Caribbean. Over all a good time and would cruise with them again.

Not as we had hoped ☹️ by imamf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Magnifica / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Pros: Cabin was clean, well appointed & fairly spacious for 2 persons. Medical center was well equipped. Wide variety of excursion options at reasonable prices. Oriental specialty restaurant was very good. Cons: Tended to cater to German patrons more than others. Food was bland, with limited food options & was not always hot. The making of beverages was not consistent from bar to bar. Most staff appeared to have limited English proficiency. Main dining room was very crowded & cramped.

Wont be using MSC again you really do get what you pay for from poor cabin steward to only ok food in the main dining room, they really do have to get the basic's right if it wasn't for the entertainment the cruise would of been a disaster

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Magnifica

Embarkation was smooth and quick. Children's entertainment team was excellent. Theatre shows we're fantastic most evenings. Food is catered towards the European Market, but I found there was a good choice every day in the buffet and was very nice. I found the daily news guide very informative for the next port and activities. Reception were very helpful when we needed help. Cabin steward was friendly and kept our cabin clean and nothing was too much trouble. We had the drinks package which I would recommend as you even have to pay for apple juice for children. Shuttle buses were available at each port, which was good as on some previous cruises this was not the case. On a negative note they were expensive and my child of 3 had to pay the same as an adult. We did find that we had to wait long periods of time for a waiter to approach us for a drink and spent most times going to the bar ourselves. Disembarkation was well organised and efficient.

Just got back from a... by emerson38

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Magnifica

Just got back from a 11 night cruise to Western Europe on MSC Magnifica. Food was good but got repetitive after day 5, not great choices for English passengers, mainly catered for the Germans / Italians, but bring on a Italian ship, was to be expected. Cabins were excellent, but we did book the Aurea package ( which was fantastic ie priority embarkment, all inclusive drinks, spa treatment and priority dis-embarkment, as well as upgraded rooms and private sum area.. well worth the money.. Ship was overall excellent, very clean and well kept. Only real let down was the fact we had 9 of the 11 days at sea with thick fog which ruined the experience of a balcony cabin. Highly recommend MSC having previously sailed with P and O and Royal Carribean, value for money was exceptional.

Worst one I have ever done. I will never travel with MSC again. Reception didn't want to know if you had a problem.

We had a wonderful Western Mediterranean Cruise. by SunshineCoast

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Magnifica / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We really enjoyed the cruise and the itinerary. The ship is excellent with some terrific ports of call. Mont Saint-Michele and Alcazar Palace were highlights while Seville and Malaga are definitely worth a return visit.

We had a wonderful cruise. by digby1921

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Magnifica / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

As stated we had an excellent cruise; there were some glitches with shore excursions but we would certainly recommend MSC Magnifica and this itinerary. The ship is well maintained and well managed - shows were excellent as was excursions (Malaga excursion with Flamenco show was first class. This itinerary allows a taste of north and south Western Europe. Very interesting!

Awful, worst cruise I have... by showard76

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Magnifica

Awful, worst cruise I have ever been on! Have written a review/complaint of almost 10 thousand words it was so bad, food, entertainment the lot. I would happily pay double or more to go with Royal Caribbean, NCL or Princess instead of ever trying MSCheapskate again! Don't waste your money, you really do get what you pay for! And then end up paying far too much for everything on board! Avoid!

We booked the cruise due... by bsnitz

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Magnifica

We booked the cruise due to the itinerary, dates, and discount. This was our first cruise on MSC. We were in Suite 14030 - the room has a lot of storage, walk-in closet, good bed, nice balcony. At first glance I would give the room 5 *. The room had an adjoining door when they smoked in their room it would come thru into our room and we are non smokers. The concierge tried to address but they kept smoking on balcony and in their room since the consequences are only 70€. This lowered my room and overall ship rating quite a bit. Food was average. Only one Asian specialty restaurant. The buffet was typical of other cruises. The sit down breakfast and dining was good. We had massages in the spa they were great and no hard sales pitch to buy product at the end. The drink package was worth it.

This ship, along all of... by DanRohn

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Magnifica

This ship, along all of the other MSC Cruise ships is clearly catered towards the European Audience. This is evident when there are announcements in 6 languages (English, Italian, Spanish, German, French and Portuguese) meaning that one announcement could last as long as about 15 minutes. The food is catered all, again, towards the Europeans. One thing that I had noticed is that every day in the buffet, there was the same food choices which is quite annoying, especially as I was onboard the ship for a week. I'm going to be honest, I do not want to have to eat Calamari everyday. Apart from those cons, the cruise did get a lot better throughout the week as I got used to the diversity that is quite rare on other cruise lines. It's not the best cruise but by far not the worst.
