Review summary

Short cruise, middle of the road service from most of the crew but definitely a handful that were exceptional. Food was OK, never hot but luke warm to warm.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Arrived to the pier early. We were able to drop our bags and get checked in right away. Sat for about an hour while ship was being prepared. On the ship by 11:30am.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
In over two dozen cruises this is the first one I've noticed how every bartender makes signature drinks different. If there is a specific way you like something made, best to ask as its possible it may be made differently. Food in yacht club was just ok, food was just less than warm. Preferred YC buffet for breakfast and lunch over le muse.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Due to canceling port of call for weather, cruise director made attempt to fill the day however, it seems as if overloading with trivia was the fix. Aurea spa very nice and offered good specials. Definitely smaller than some other ships so felt busier at times.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Booked Yacht Club for elevated experience and relaxing weekend. Very disappointed in the majority of the crew there. Our butler was non-existent. We couldn't reach him by phone and saw him a total of 2 times the entire cruise until debarkation morning. Fortunately, his assistant was exceptional and always stopped by to check in on us or asked if we needed anything when he saw us out and about. Found that most felt they were doing us a favor by providing basic customer service. There were a handful that provided excellent service and I will definitely be mentioning names when we receive the email for review.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was very clean. Layout was difficult to maneuver on a few of the decks.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Spacious, clean, plenty of room for clothes. Separate area for makeup. Great full length mirror. Comfortable sitting area.

Ship tip

As with all MSC Cruises, if you eat big, ask for a second entree at the start of dinner. Portions are smaller than a typical US based meal. Specialty drinks are made differently throughout the ship (mudslides I had were made 5 different ways) if you like something a specific way ask for it to be made that way. Good for a short cruise however a bit nervous for my 10 day in 2 months as service could've been much better, especially when we sailed in yacht club.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Priority walk off made debarkation very easy. Less than 5 minutes from cabin through customs.

@1patron01, it's like any other cruise line, IMO. There's good and bad. I'm sailing with them in 54 days on a Mediterranean cruise. Being a US citizen, I'm sure there will be a language barrier for me as it's off-season, and a lot of Europeans will likely be sailing on a European cruise line. This will be my 30th cruise overall and my 5th with MSC. Are there things I would change? Yes. Are there things I would say other cruise lines should jump onboard with, yes.
