Review summary
We started this cruise with a problem, for some reason MSC decided that we owed them some money but this was not discovered until 3 days prior to the cruise, was fixed easily by our TA but problems popped up from check in. First husband was given a Classic card instead of the Gold and then they had put us in Second seating for dinner when all along our booking showed First. We did complain and did get First seating on the second night and we were able to eat basically early the first. It took a couple of days to finally get with the cruise consultant but did and got husband his Gold card.
Our first stop was Ocho Rios, Jamaica and we took a MSC snorkeling tour, which they took us to spot where there were a lot of tropical fish and anemones which were nice to see. Then they took us to a beach but in order to actually get on the beach you had to climb over the side of the boat into a speed boat, on the beach there was a restaurant but since all the tables were taken you could not get any service except for drinks. Once done there on the ride back they had beer and rum punch, which was very good. Over all a good excursion.
The second stop was Aruba and again we did a MSC snorkeling excursion, This one they took us to a spot where you had to go up from the boat to see anything but they did not say that so we did not see anything, then they took up to a sunken boat but the water there was not very clear so you could barely see the outline of the boat. On the way back they had rum punch which was good. Overall an okay excursion.
The third stop was Dominican Republic where we did a MSC excursion that took us to the Catholic Basilica and to Ponce De Leon's home. The basilica was nice but we had thought it would be much older, while there we went to the museum on the grounds which while small was nice. The stop at Ponce De Leon's home was good, nice to see a home that was built in the 1500's. The only problem on this excursion was the guide spent more time talking to the few French on the excursion and less time to the many English speaking people.
Our last stop was Nassau, Bahamas where we stayed on the ship as we have been to Nassau a few times and really don't care about it.
The food on the cruise was good but I noticed that the portion size in the dining room has gotten smaller. We mainly ate breakfast and lunch in the buffet which was good except that at breakfast the eggs were cold.
MSC has not changed the theater shows since our first cruise on the Divina so we only went to one which was very good. I feel that MSC has the best theater shows of any line we have been on.
MSC has implemented a new procedure for checking in where you enter your credit/debit card at a kiosk onboard, you have 36 hours to do this and it was easy.
For some reason disembarkation was going along good when it stopped, I think this had more to do with people unloading the luggage onshore than with the ship. So when it was time for our color to be called we decided to leave the ship and while getting off did not take long it did take awhile to get our luggage.
We most likely will cruise with MSC again but it may be awhile.
