Review summary

This cruise was "okay." There wasn't anything exceptional about it at all. It was sort of like staying at a low price hotel.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Formal dining room was EXCELLENT! Buffet was marginal. It was open at inconvenient times. For example, we wanted to catch a quick dinner at 5:15 one night and there wasn't a place open! The only thing we could have was pizza or ice cream. The service in the formal dining room was excellent! In the Windjammer buffet room (where we only had breakfast) you were constantly surrounded by waiters yelling numbers for special order food. It was annoying!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
There were limited options.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
For so many staff on the ship we couldn't find any when we had questions, with the exception of waiting in a long line at the counter. There seemed to be lines EVERYWHERE on this ship.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
We were surprised to see trash and dirty dishes everywhere. It just didn't seem like they had anyone attending to it.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The stateroom was plenty big and the service was excellent!

Ports of call

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

3 out of 5
We relaxed in a beach chair. The buffet was good, hamburgers and hot dogs. Nothing excellent here.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
We took a tour which we found interesting. However, when we got off the ship there were no cruise line people to direct us where to go. The gardens and marching flamingos are a must see. Our cab driver dropped us off in the "Fish Fry" which is the local end of the beach and we had AMAZING conch fritters made by a local. It was a mile walk back to the tourist section by was well worth it!
Don't Miss: March of the Flamingos

Pros: stateroom service was excellent

Cons: There were SO MANY times we wanted to do something on the ship- eat, shop, see a show, do an activity- and there was NOTHING going on or everything was closed!

Recommends Monarch of the Seas? No.
