First time rcl cruiser. Was greatly impressed with a few down points Just glad to be able to cruise again
Embarkation
5 out of 5
This was always such a headache on cruises pre COVID. Now jt was so easy I thought I skipped a step. I was on the ship in less then 20 minutes total and that was even longer then expected due to a brief system outage. This is one COVID change I really hope they keep
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food in the MDR was mainly perfect. There was one night I wasn’t to thrilled but the others made up for it. I found myself saying “this is the best —— I’ve ever had”. I also did the chefs table the last evening and whole pricey jt was worth every penny.
The windjammer was ok food. Nothing exceptional but it’s a buffet so that’s expected.
I also tried the tiki bars appetizers. They were ok. Probably not worth the extra charge.
Also get a hot dog. Just do jt
Onboard Activities

Entertainment

This may be where my review takes a hit. Full disclosure this is my first Rcl so I don’t know if this experience was normal or was due to COVID. However….
There was no sail away party on the top deck. Not sure if that’s normal.
During the day. I felt the activities were lacking. If it wasn’t a shopping activity it might have been a trivia game. But nothing outside. This was a Caribbean cruise. All cruises I’ve been on had outside activities. Fortunately I’m ok with just vegging out and reading but I could def see how you could be bored on this trip. Nothing really caught your attention. Again this could all be die to COVID
One plus I guess was they brought back the 70s party which I ended up passing on. Apparently for previous cruisers that’s a big deal.
There was one singer in one of the bars that for me was so bad I thought he was doing karaoke when I first heard him.
The shows at night though were fabulous. Two comedians and a singer (Goddess) The final comedian duo had me laughing so hard I was crying and honestly In this world that’s what we need. A good laugh. I felt compared to other cruises the quality of these shows was top notch if not the best I’ve seen.
The evening activities were also fun. They had a majority rules game(no
for kids. At. Alll) , finish the lyric, and other items. They were fun pre shows to the main show. They also had a silent disco which are always fun.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff in general you could tell was genuinely happy to be back. One server smiled at me and you could just tell it was the most joyous genuine smile ever. They were always checking on us to make sure we were ok. Our drinks were full or we needed anything at all. It made the trip a delight
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The place was constantly being cleaned, in a good way.
Layout was a usual layout. The promenade was cool for me as I’m not used to RCL layouts but it makes me want to see the others.
One weird quirk is that there was no where to go to sit relax and watch the wake of the ship. The aft portions were either balcony staterooms. The water sports. Or a walkway with a shoulder high guard rail. Just a quick nothing to earth shattering.
Cabin / Stateroom

Usual balcony room.
Ship tip
To get to the helipad. Go to deck four. Walk to the front of the ship and take the steps. Great views all cruise.
Glad you had a good time. As far as deck parties, they're on hold for now due to covid and Royal not wanting a bunch of people screaming and singing and dancing close to one another. I'm hoping they'll return soon
I agree with ship board activities, more needs to be done fleet wide.
Glad you enjoyed it. We’ve always had a great experience on Royal Caribbean. The lack of daytime activities was probably due to Covid. The mid-size ships also have less activities than the Oasis Class. The food in the dining room has been excellent with many options on our previous cruises. I’m always surprised when I see some complain about the quality or lack of choices.
