Review summary

All relevant comments are made above. Generally a great time was had and would definitely cruise with marella again in the future. Looking at going from Barbados in the UK winter

Embarkation

Coach from the airport to ship check in. Very well organised. 5 minutes later on board.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
MDR busy, but given a buzzer to return when table was ready, so could enjoy the lounge bar while waiting. Surf and Turf wad amazing both times we went. Kora La was OK., ordered chicken curry but it was like left over chicken thigh meat and not great. Buffet was good too, especially breakfast and afternoon tea... although the musical afternoon tea was spectacular!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were freezing cold, but definitely refreshing. Too many under 13s taking over the hot tubs despite being told by crew, they were not allowed. Parents did not help with policing this sadly.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Comedian and bands were great, but the singers in the production shows were quite poor and majority of the time off key

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

Exceptional

Ship Quality

Very good for a ship of its age

Cabin / Stateroom

Problem with main lights from day 2. They kept tripping out so we often returned back to shower and had no lights. They told us it was fixed each time, but it wasn't. By the last day it was 7 times they were off and at the most inconvenient times as well. It was kept very clean and a good size. Would have been perfect apart from the light problem, which became very annoying

Ports of call

Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Canary Islands Did not visit port

Just arrival and departure port

Funchal, Madeira

Take the cable car up and the toboggans down. Amazing, but get there early, as some other groups had a 2 hour wait

San Sebastian, La Gomera Did not visit port

Stayed on the ship

Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands

Pretty place, but very quiet for a Saturday on our trip

Puerto Del Rosario, Fuerteventura

3 out of 5
Took a trip to the dunes and to a fishing port, with 45 minute stop at a nearby town where there were basically only the tour group there. It seemed deserted. A few empty restaurants were open though thankfully

Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands

3 out of 5
Handy for good shopping. Our planned excursion to a beach resort was cancelled the day before, so stayed on the ship

Santa Cruz De La Palma, Canary Islands

1 out of 5
Looked OK, but just got off there to transfer back to airport

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Not as bad as the usual scramble to get off, but the luggage was not easy to find. Had someone been assisting with this would have saved some time
