My wife and I are in out 60's and we had a great time. We enjoyed the ship and the atmosphere. Two of the three ports were private port situations which are not overly exciting for us, but I booked the cruise knowing this. The ports were not are main criteria for selecting this cruise.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarked under 20 minutes start to finish. The line didn't stop moving.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The selection of food in the main dining room was not to our liking. Limited choices and the slowest service ever experienced on a cruise. The buffet selections were the most limited we ever experienced on a cruise. Definitely not the typical cruise ship buffet. We did not experience a specialty restaurant.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Did not experience the onboard activities personally, but did see many activities happening.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The comedy club and comedians were fantastic. The stage performance shows are average. Pre-recorded music and average performers. The magician/illusionist was entertaining, but is not want I want to see as entertainment.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Received excellent service from all staff that we encountered.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship has the best layout of the many ships I have been on. Tons of seating both indoor and outdoor. The ship itself was very clean, but I deduct a star due to the lack of concern for viruses. There are just a few hand sanitizer stations on board. A small double sink going into the buffet area and none at the main dining room. There was no one encouraging passenger to wash or sanitize their hands and they were not. I never saw one worker sanitizing stair handrails or any thing else the entire 7 days.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Large cabin with a good layout. The bathroom is not large, but adequate. The balcony is smaller than most I have had previously, but fit two lounge chairs and the small table.
Ship tip
Become very familiar with the CarniVal HUB application on the phone. It's needed to obtain dining reservations and they want you to use it as the dining menu. While I'm not a youngster, I taught more than one fellow passenger how to use it. As with all technology, the application has a glitch the first night of the cruise causing much confusion.
Smooth and easy if you have a passport. We saw a line of several hundred passengers that were using a driver's license and birth certificates. I know it was a very long and frustrating process for them.
