Review summary

We had a good time, but probably the first and last time we do Carnival. We would definitely go back to Royal when we cruise again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was just ok. We did like Chi Bang the most as we went twice. In main dining room service was a bit slow.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We did the Bolt roller coaster and loved it!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Most shows that we saw were very good, singers and dancers were excellent!

Children's Programs

No kids with us

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our stateroom attendant, Jeffery, was great and very pleasant. Wait staff were very friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Most areas of the ship were very clean, only thing, they need to keep up more with people leaving dirty dishes outside their cabins that would be there for hours on end. Also, they need more garbage receptacles throughout, every time I needed to throw something away I would have to search and search for a garbage can.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It was ok, balcony was a bit small.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
Was only there to get on and get off.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Been there many times, just walked a bit and had a drink and food at a local Irish bar.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
Ok, just walked across to a large swimming pool, hung out, had food and drink.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Rented a golf cart from DEA Rentals, had fun driving around the island. Saw plenty of donkeys (fed them carrots), went to the lighthouse. Then swam in ocean and ate at Jack’s Shack. Overall we had a good time.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
We did express checkout, we had 8:10-8:30 scheduled. Well our group was called an hour early, but we were having breakfast. By the time we went to disembark, in our time slot, it was massive chaos! Got stuck in a very long line of people, took a good 20 minutes or more to finally get through.

I agree with the dishes needing to be picked up more often. We saw some that were sitting there for almost a whole day. Seems like since the stewards only go in the room once a day, it doesn’t get picked up quick. I was also looking for garbage cans a few times, especially around the splash pad and mini golf area.

Thanks for your review. Unfortunately, you can't go by the scheduled disembarkation times unless you are in a premier cabin with extra benefits, like escorted disembarking. I either get in line around 5:30am to be safe or just wait until everyone is off. Otherwise you'll be in a long line. And so many people sneak in front of you.
