Review summary

Never again, waist the money on a Havana Cabana, no plusses, just minuses. Not sure if Im ready for Carnival any time soon. Ship is beautiful. Entertainment was great. Food was good if you dont mind all the up charges. Specialty restaurant up charges are too high $48pp considering youve already paid for your dinner. Spa is great. Pools are small but you can usually find a lounge. Shade is at a premium. Lots of kids. Bars are slow. Drinks are weak, not sure they add any alcohol. Casino is big and nice with a separate non smoking area.

Cruise legal powerstrips conficated, said they'd be returned, NO, they said they were destroyed! Same guy who told us they would be returned.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dinning no tablecloths, eating off of plastic table tops, only ate there once, some food good, other food not good. Conplaint, server just giggled. Buffet okay for breakfast & lunch. Shut down by 3pm, odd hours if you come back from port and are hungry. Specialty restaurants, some have hefty up charges $48pp. DONT GET THE OYSTERS AT SEA BLUE, made the three of us who had them sick, throwing up and Diarra. Told manager next evening about our experience, wouldnt you think they would offer to take off the up charge after making us sick...no..nothing. Rest of food there was excellent. Emeril's was excellent although there is a charge for each entree, however, reasonable. Chibang, very good, ate there twice with an upcharge of $8pp for the 2nd time. Italian restaurant was good also. Big chicken, great. Barbecue great.

Onboard Activities

Pools...Havana, not worth the up charge, bar not manned half the time we were there. Other pools were small, but able to find chairs. Lots of kids with goggles and NO Diapers, yuck. Big lack of shade near any of the pools, you really boil out there. Spa was great, got the full week package and used it every day. Some times crowded, needed more lounges. Day 6, the really hot steam room stopped working and remained out of service. Next time i would book the spa rooms rather than Havana.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Excellent and easy to find a place to watch or room to get in.

Service and Staff

Definitely not as good as Royal Caribbean! Problems were not always addressed and there were always room carts and sweepers to navagate past in the hallways. Room missed one of the days but for most part made up and clean. Waiters, for most part, were great. Unless you had a complaint, then they just blow you off. Bar at the pool was VERY slow after you ordered, half hour or more, and many times very weak. Old wine pour from the Serenity bar, yuck, undrinkable. If you can drink at least 5 drinks/day get the package otherwise 2 drinks will cost you $30.

Dont know how a 300 pounder could get through that cabin door, were under 200. Think skinny. Bathroom is 4X6.

NEVER AGAIN. At the very front of the ship on 8th floor. NOT PRIVATE, a path along the front for people to walk along with access through a gate to our "private" cabana. Room is as far down the hall as you can get. Couldnt figure out where the cigarette smoke was coming from for the first 3 days, and then we got it...there is an employee open air lounge right in front, sunken 1 floor down at the front of the ship. So, as the employees enjoy their cigarettes, the smoke comes up and over and right into our cabana. Nice, right. Furniture on the cabana was a lounge, a small low table, a very uncomfortable low slanted back chair with a foot stool and a hanging swing chair. We had to beg the attendent for a regular chair so we could have our room service out there in the morning. Would have been better with 2 chairs and a table. Guess that why we didnt see many using their cabanas...that and the smoke.

Ship tip

DONT BOOK A HAVANA CABANA!

What a zoo. Bad instructions for walking off. At one point we exited the elevator and couldnt even exit the elevator. People yelling at you to keep moving, swept in with the flow. Nasty port authorities.
