Review summary

First, I'd suggest getting a passport. Second, be prepared to wait in lines for most everything. Third, if you are overweight, be prepared for the tiny cabin bathroom. Fourth, HAVE A FANTASTIC TIME! You can make the best of everything when you are on a cruise!

Embarkation

OK. Some flaws but all in all good experience at this port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
All of the food was about the same quality. Nothing special. We went to the steakhouse and had a steak that was NOT as good as the one in El Capitano. We also went to Rudy's Seafood and were unimpressed. Chibang's food was cold but service was good. Main dining was good as was choices at buffet, room service, pizza place, deli, hot dogs station, street eats, and Guy's burgers. We did not try the seafood shack. However, Shaq's Big Chicken was by far the best on the ship.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Rode the rollercoaster, participated in trivia, went to the spa, had 2 acupuncture treatments, pools and hot tubs were rarely packed but the weather was not always good either. THE CASINO! The non-smoking section of this is 3 times the size of the smoking. And it TRULY stays non-stink!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were great! Comedians, theater shows, and shows in Grand central were awesome.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I can't complain about any of the staff. For the most part everyone was attentive and happy. Our room steward needed reminded about some things but she had many cabins. There were bartenders that just did NOT know how to make a proper mojito though.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I loved the design and layout of this ship! I liked it MUCH better than the Horizon. Food places were located all over the ship and dinner options were available in almost every one. I wished street eats was open longer.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The bathrooms in the balcony cabins on this ship are entirely TOO SMALL. If you are even slightly overweight you may have issues. They located the toilet paper holder BEHIND you on the side. There is only room for one person. Sadly, they made the cabin section larger and there is room on both sides of the couch. The bed was hard as a rock. A first for us as we have been on 86 cruise days with them. The spa package is great but they sell spa days to anyone so it made for a VERY BUSY place.

Ship tip

Get a suite if you are overweight.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Nassau, Bahamas

It downpoured the entire time so I don't know what was available.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
You need a passport to get off the ship faster. The lines were crazy long and those who had PRIORITY debarkation were let off at the same times as everyone else which made for a big mass exodus.
