Review summary

Quite a change from our first Mardi Gras honeymoon cruise. Original could carry 520 passengers with 200 crew and this one around 6000 with 1800 crew. First one had two dining options and this one had more than twice what we could do in a week. Beautiful ship with good live entertainment. Excellent cruise director with a name you wont forget, Kyndall Fire.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Large variety of restaurants

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We had a good time at the cooking kitchen and we enjoyed the Scotch tasting. The fitness center is also nice.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The rock show was excellent in the theater. We went twice.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Ruth was an excellent cabin steward. The sea day brunch waiter was excellent. The palm waiter was lacking but it was probably a management decision which caused this.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful ship. The central stage has poor seating unless you get there early

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Small, disappointed that there was no real chair. Super quiet. Like the big flat screen. Plenty of ship cameras so it was like a virtual balcony.

Ship tip

Make sure you get on early and make your reservations fast for cooking kitchen and scotch tasting.

Ports of call

Cool to hear you also honeymooned on the original Mardi Gras. We did the same in 1991. What a cool little ship at the time. Didn’t realize the historical significance to Carnival cruise lines until later. Looking forward to the new version in January 2023. Thank you for your reviews.
