Mardi Gras

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip)

Sail date: November 26, 2022

Ship: Mardi Gras

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Review summary

Awesome cruise! There were 19 decks. Top small deck was the loft. The other decks we could get on. I liked that the ship had more swimming pools and warm hot tubs.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
The embarkation went ok. We parked in the port garage on level three which had a more direct access to terminal so we did not have to go down the elevators.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the "warm" hot tubs.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We went to the Family Feud, Love & Marriage, Dr Suess Cat in the Hat. All were hilarious. Kyndall Fire was the cruise director and brought to the shows her own brand of humor. The Celestial Strings violinists were amazing with their harmonizing.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Juliarta (team lead server), Kadek and Hazel were amazing. They were super friendly and constantly waiting on us.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship had an interesting design layout but we quickly acclimated. The cabin was cleaned daily by Dino who happily took care of our special needs. He supplied towel animals and replaced our ice daily.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Ocean view cabin was smaller than expected but still ok. Bathroom was a lot smaller than the other Carnival ships and was challenging for plus size people to move around in.

Ship tip

When you first get on go to other decks that have food if you can. Ledo deck was swamped with people until the rooms were ready at 1:30pm. Also, there was a lot of confusion about how the public bathroom automated doors operated. Do NOT stand near door after entering stall because door will not close and after the door closes, swipe over the lock so door cannot be opened from outside.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Margaritaville was awesome, but we did miss the free green umbrellas with chair section right off the pier on the beach.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Amber Cove port shops were nice but the outlying areas up toward the top of mountain were in poverty areas. We did the Mountain excursion and the views were awesome when there was no fog.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Nausau was ok. Only walked around and shopped and did not do an excursion.

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
It is a beautiful area.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We docked over an hour later than usual because of a medical emergency, so that made us late getting to car around 10:45 am. Getting 6,000+ passengers off ship was challenging.
