We cruised Carnival four years ago and boy, has it changed, you get nickeled and dimmed for everything, food in the main dining room, drinks (water) if you want soda pop with meal it costs $.21 an ounce. Was when it came with your meal. Was a time when the ship officers were introduced….only the Capt over the PA. Food was not all that good and usually cold. Over all a very disappointing cruise. We will not be sailing Carnival again!!!😝

This was the one experience that was efficient and effective, 15 minutes and we were on the ship!

Food and Dining

Food in Palm was mediocre at best and if you wanted good food it was $23 a person up charge 🤨
Onboard Activities

Basically three small pools for about 6400 passengers, always shoulder to shoulder. Had a better time in my shower!
Entertainment

Saw two fairly good evening productions. Lounge entertainment was average, nothing spectacular

Service and Staff

I have never seen such a slow crew that always look unhappy. Our room attendant needed a lot more training. The wait staff in the Palm, and Italian restaurant were slow and the food was cold. We did have very good service in Chibang restaurant the team of Crisjay, Michael and especially Wirawan took very good care of us, always with a smile, and ensured are food was hot
Ship Quality

We always seemed to be at the wrong end of the ship when we wanted to do something, could not go on one floor to the other end, you have to go down from 18 to 16 walk some , then back on the elevator to 18. Very tiring. And the elevators wow either it would take 5 to 10 minutes for one to arrive, and was either filled with people or motor carts. That elevator system was again not set up for 6400 passengers☹️

Acceptable, nothing I would take pictures and write home about😕
Whoa, gave that low rating and it was a vacation!
Soda is not included and there are lots of food options. Sorry to hear it didn't meet your expectations.
Carnival is great though overall!
Sorry it didn’t work out for you. While I agree the food is only mediocre, we loved the rest of our cruise on the Mardi Gras. Our rooms were on the lido deck and it sounds like that was a good decision. There were 8 in our group and a good time was had by all.
Sorry this cruise didn’t meet your expectations. However, I agree with others that soda was never free with dinner (we started sailing on (Carnival in 1998). Reading between the lines on many MG reviews, it probably isn’t a ship we would enjoy. Appreciate your feedback!
My first Carnival Cruise was 2003 and we purchased the Soda cards for everyone. Soda was never free. Tea, coffee and water and assorted drinks like lemonade at the buffet. They have a strip steak on MDR menu you don’t have to order the Filet Mignon.
I was on the same Cruise and didn't experience the problems you did. Of somethings are different, but this was my 9th cruise with Carnival and never had I was offered free soda with my meal in the MDR. If you didn't have the soda package, you only got tea or water. I guess you need to sail with another Cruise Line and see things have changed everywhere
I enjoyed the mardi gras but hate the elevators. It's a major issue/complaint and they need to do something. I still don't understand how they went to the new system on the panorama (and it works REALLY well) and then didn't put in that new system on this ship and it's HORRIBLE. Even when most people were in port and not a lot of people left on board, you STILL would wait 10 min for an elevator.
I've been cruising Carnival over 20 years and soda has NEVER been free at meal time or any time. Nothing has changed in the last four years as far as things that were free and now cost, that I can think of. There are new things that didn't exist before that you can choose to purchase. Four years ago, people complained about being nickel and dimed, unfortunately that has not changed.
People either seem to love or hate the Mardi Gras. I see lots of mixed reviews. Cruising is definitely not the same now as it was prior to Covid on any ship.
