Review summary

Overall had a good time. Can’t wait for my next cruise!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Pretty much smooth sailing. Agent in customer service was not able to activate one of my gift cards (did it later onboard), otherwise, a very smooth experience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Ate most meals in main dining room ( had a 6pm assigned seating with family). Staff was very good, drink service a little slow at times. My only complaint was I wished food was a little hotter when served. All in all enjoyed meals.

Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que

4 out of 5

Pretty good. Only complaint was the sauces on the table during dinner, had to ask for a plain BBQ sauce. Breakfast was good, standard fare found on Lido, without the lines(bonus), but some of the breads/ muffins were a little hard from sitting under heat lamps.

Guy's Burger Joint

5 out of 5

Great as always. Even with long lines, service was quick.

Big Chicken by Shaq

4 out of 5

Loved the fries, not so crazy about the chicken (others in my party were the exact opposite).

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Motown trivia was a blast! Sports trivia very difficult! Had reservations for Bolt on 2 occasions, but was unable to ride due to weather causing ride to shut down.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Playhouse singers fabulous, but shows were so-so. Center Stage performers excellent and shows were better.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff were great! Feeling of welcomeness was missing compared to other cruises, possibly due to everyone wearing masks ( which I support).

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship is large, but fairly easy to navigate. Only problem I found is that Carnival Store is labeled as 7 forward, when it is actually located just past the Center Stage toward aft portion of ship. Casino takes up a large portion of 7th floor, so if you are traveling through there one side is smoking, other is non-smoking. So if you don’t like smoke, make sure you travel on the non-smoking side.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Room was on small side, but was comfortable for my daughter and I. Same for the bathroom. The only issue is that on first day I noticed a musty/moldy smell in the bathroom. I told the room steward the next day and issue was taken care of. The smell did come back a few days later, but wasn’t as strong. Luckily, I had packed a gel room deodorizer that we kept in the bathroom that helped with smell. ( I did notice a stronger version of the smell from the bathroom on deck 18 near some of the drains). Closet and dresser storage was great with lots of hangers.

Ship tip

Make Bolt reservations as soon as you get on MG!

Ports of call

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
Did the Top 10 Roatan excursion offered by Carnival. Was a last minute decision to go on excursion (trying to use up OBC). My daughter and I enjoyed ourselves, just wish time at the resort was shorter.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Enjoyed this port, lots of entertainment. We saw the pole climbers, visited bird sanctuary ($12), and watched the dolphins.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Only walked around port and made a few purchases.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Everything went smoothly until time came to claim luggage. There was no clear line between those going to claim luggage and those who had claimed luggage and were trying to leave terminal. It was also difficult to grab a porter to assist with luggage.
