Review summary

Our cruise on Mardi Gras was great. Fun bars, plenty of food options, good shows. Vista & Horizon were very good; Mardi Gras was great. When people ask where we cruised to, we tell them about the ship- the ship is the destination.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
New Carnival terminal at Port Canaveral is built to efficiently check in passengers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
There were more (included) food options to try, we never did the same place twice! There were differently themed bars throughout the ship- get the drink package (in advance) to enjoy.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
BOLT- the first rollercoaster at sea was the star attraction. $15 got two lamps around the track.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
In addition to a main theater, there were atrium performances on 6/7/8. Stadium seating, good shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always good service- waiters, cabin stewards, entertaining bartenders, top notch show performers.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Awesome new ship design for Carnival. There are food and drink options spread all over the ship! Their 6/7/8 Grand Central Atrium was a great venue for shows. Largest casino at sea I have ever seen (and pleasantly smoke-free during Covid masked sailings)

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Carnival FINALLY installed glass shower doors on this ship (instead of the blue vinyl curtain)

Ship tip

Check the Java Blue Cafe'- they have sandwiches in the glass case which are included.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

This port is to embark & disembark; there is nothing to do within walking distance.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

Nassau port is under construction for renovations (long overdue). We stayed on the ship.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

2 out of 5
Their port pool is nice (free), but the blaring horrible music & DJ... we didn't stay long. The pier is fairly long- they offer 'rickshaw' bike rides for tips.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
This was our first visit to Grand Turk. We did a Party bus island tour for $70pp. Not much to see; the TV shows featuring Grand Turk resorts paint a nicer picture. The port had a free pool with loungers and a Margaritaville restaurant to purchase food.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Self-assist was called by muster stations- a welcome improvement over past cluster crowds. Facial recognition to debark, but keep your passport handy.
