I think we got what we expected from Carnival. A nice experience with plenty of fun. But they just aren’t as god at Royal Caribbean or Disney regarding food, service, entertainment, and ship layout/amenities.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Had to wait a while outside of the terminal, but I think that was more because of Covid concerns. All in all the experience went fairly smooth.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was excellent at Shaq’s Big Chicken, Guys Pig and Anchor, Emerils, and many other specialty places on the ship. In the lido buffet I would say it left a lot to be desired. We were let down on the variety and amount of food the buffet was lacking.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Bolt was amazing although charging to ride is very tacky and wrong. Making reservations to ride is great but you should have to pay $15 a person to take a 20 second ride. It is cool though! The ropes course is great also. Water in the pools was freezing, but there was adequate space and all seemed clean.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Ok at best. They did their thing and were good at it, but all shows were straight singing performances. There were no “shows”. Family Feud was a lot of fun to watch.
Children's Programs
Kids too old
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
They were good but clearly stretched too thin. Our room steward was nice but he was apparently handling 30 rooms versus about a third of that normally.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was clean and it was beautiful. But the design was odd. There was no flow to the ship and bathrooms were hard to find and not well marked.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was very nice. A bit smaller than normal but nice. The shower was a good size.
Ship tip
If this is your first cruise you’ll be blown away. If not, then you may be disappointed. Especially if you’ve done Disney or Royal Caribbean….
