This was our first cruise, and we can't wait to go on another! It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end.
Embarkation

Despite the long lines, we made it through quickly. It was a smooth, efficient process.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We ate most of our meals in the Palm restaurant and the food was excellent! Our service was just as excellent. I have a tree nut allergy and our wait staff made sure I did not order anything with nuts. The whole team was friendly and made a point to get to know us. The Marketplace breakfast buffet was also very good. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious.
Onboard Activities

The Mardi Gras has a rollercoaster, but we did not get a chance to try it because the winds were too strong. Our friends were able to try it and raved about how much fun it was. We enjoyed playing putt-putt and hanging out by the pools. The staff keeps everything very clean. We also had fun playing many of the various trivia games. We didn't win, but we had fun trying!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We got to see a few shows and some of the comedians on the cruise and enjoyed each one. I think Voodoo Moon was our favorite performance...great music and performances!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
What impressed us about our steward and out waiters was the time they took to not only learn our names, but also engaged in conversations about our day and excursions. We felt like we got to know them, too. They all made us feel important and special.
Ship Quality

The Mardi Gras is a HUGE ship, but the layout is easy to understand, and they have maps available to help you at all the elevators. The Carnival HUB app also had maps to let you know where everything is. It was a very clean ship and we saw people cleaning constantly.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
I had always been told that the inside cabins were small with little storage space, but I found our cabin to be roomy and we had more than enough storage space to meet our needs.
Cozumel was beautiful! We took an excursion to visit a local church and orphanage. It was a very educational and rewarding excursion. We learned that the money we paid for the excursion would be donated to the church and orphanage to help them continue with their missions.
This was our favorite port. It was clean and there was a lot to do. We took an excursion to see the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. It was an amazing day! We were part of a small tour group of nine. Our guide was full of knowledge and made sure we had an opportunity to explore the ruins and answered all our questions.
It was a beautiful, clean port. However, it was a stormy day, and we could not take advantage of it as much as we would have liked. We did take an excursion to a private island to snorkel and explore the island and the animal rescue center but had to cut the trip short because of the weather and did not get to snorkel. The island was beautiful, and I'd love to go again.
