Review summary

CONSTRUCTION outside of our stateroom all day, the only day at sea. Tearing up carpets, loud machines, dust, debris. This went on from 10-4:45 pm our only day at sea. The other days, they were doing this construction on the entire floor. The photos speak for themselves. What hotel would have construction all day outside of your room and not warn you, offer compensation, or even any advance notice? Royal Caribbean did not care. This went on the entire 3 day 4 night cruise, but hit our room on our only day at Sea! No peace and rest that day. After we complained, they offered no apology, no change of room. and a $50.0 credit off a future cruise. The photos speak for themselves, you take the risk of cruising the evidence is in the photos. Beware future cruisers.

Embarkation

They sent a message the night before stating the cruise would leave later, 6 pm to 4 pm and not be there at 12-3 pm . They sent another message at 10:30 am reminding us of this. Then, at 10: 50 am they sent a message stating that the ship came in early! and we had to be there at 12:00-3:00 and we live 2.5 hours away to drive. It was very chaotic and confusing. Had to rush there to get there in time after being told just hours before they were going to leave at the original time.

They did not offer me another stateroom or advise us of the construction that went on during our full day at sea - 1 day at sea with construction all day right outside of door, dust, debris, asthmatic / noise. Did not call back had to go to the desk to complain about this. Amazing

I don't think it was unreasonable for maintenance to take place during daytime hours. There are plenty of other places you can go on a ship to get away from it. Maybe cruising is just not for you, it is not for everyone.

I'm sorry that the construction upset your vacation, but your question about "what hotel would do this" is what caught my attention. This happens all the time. I was at a conference 2 weeks ago. I paid $205 a night, and had the exact same thing. They were replacing carpet in the hallways. It is part of traveling to see maintenance. The Atlanta airport has been torn up so much, it's surprising when there isn't construction. Not saying you don't have the right to be upset, just saying it isn't uncommon.

It is a real shame that the only pictures you posted was ones to complain about. Maybe you should only Cruise on Brand New ships or ones fresh out of dry dock. Then you can be assured there should be no maintenance being done.

The cruise ships have to do maintenance while passengers are a board to keep up with things that have to be done. 10 AM to 4:45 PM seems like a reasonable time that most people would be out of their room and doing other things on the ship or in Port if it is a port day. The Cruise Line’s cannot win with maintenance. People either complain that maintenance is needed or they complain when they do maintenance. I guess everyone wants them to do maintenance except when they happen to be on the ship.
