Older ship that has an odd layout. Younger party vibe.

Review summary

So this was our first time with Royal and a smaller ship. Loved the service, food and shows. Did not love the ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy. Very informative crew at the port and on ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good. Not spectacular but good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We heard no Caribbean music? It was more of a party dance vibe even out by the pool. Pool was packed most days.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were fabulous. The MOC orchestra was rocking it but as far as the outside and centrum music...it lacked the carribean feel! Seemed like way too much club music.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone we encountered on the Magesty was fabulous and friendly. They all called us by name by the 2nd day.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Was not fond of the layout but everything was clean and tidy.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Our room steward was fantastic. The only complaint is the toilet flushed several times in the middle of the night. Thought someone was in our bathroom!

Ship tip

Don't go during hurricane season unless you are looking for an extended vacation! Our 5 day ended up being 7 days. The caption did a wonderful job keeping us safe and in the sun. However that last night coming back into Ft Lauderdale, the boat was rocking something fierce!

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

We went to The Crazy Lobster! The service, beach, food and atmosphere was so much fun. Just be ready for the beach vendors!

Cozumel, Mexico

Love the shops! We visited Mr. Sanchos!

Disembarkation

Everyone was ready to get off of course. The staff did an excellent job of course.

I am looking forward to sailing on this ship next month with my daughter. It will be her first cruise and my 20th. Every cruise is an adventure, and I always plan to have fun! Small ship, large ship: they all have positives. Look for negatives, and you will find them.

Smaller ships (under 100,000 GT) do have interesting layouts.... You will find Adventure easier to navigate.

Was this your first cruise?Majesty was my first cruise ship and I loved it even sailed on her a second time ,in addition to her sister ship the Monarch which is no longer. I noticed that you will be cruising on a larger ship later, perhaps larger ships will be better for you, better luck next time!
